    Sand Lizards trounce Ozark, 54-10

    It was business as usual for the Sand Lizards as they played to a 54-10 victory over the Ozark Hillbillies on Friday at Keenan Field. "Business" was a lopsided scoreboard and what Sand Lizards head coach Josh Price called "silly mistakes."

    Russellville falters at Van Buren

    Russellville High School senior Tony Jones started his first game at quarterback Friday night and threw a pair of touchdown passes to Co-Chese Temple-Laws, as the Cyclones fell to the Van Buren Pointers 34-14 at J.E. Blakemore Stadium. Jones finished the game 9-of-18 passing for 129 yards and two TDs.

    Rockets spoil Cyclones' homecoming

    The Russellville Cyclones saw their homecoming hopes evaporate on a pair of interceptions in the fourth quarter during Friday night's 21-17 loss to the Little Rock Catholic Rockets. Russellville suffered three turnovers in rainy conditions at Cyclone Stadium.

    Kershner leads Dardanelle on both sides of the ball

    The hype over the newly named Battle of the Big River and the fact that the Pottsville Apaches nearly knocked off 7A/6A-Central foe Russellville didn't get to Dardanelle Sand Lizard Chris Kershner. Sure, the Apaches blew a 28-13 halftime lead to the Cyclones, but that was at their place.

    Apaches back on track after grounding Eagles

    The Apaches welcomed the Arkansas Baptist Eagles into John Needham stadium for a 4-4A Conference game Friday night. The Apaches proved to be very poor hosts for the Eagles.

    Top-ranked Bulldogs down Cyclones

    BY SEAN INGRAM sportseditor@couriernews.com GREENWOOD - Russellville High School senior Kentrell Scott rushed for 157 yards on 15 carries Friday night, but the top-ranked football team in Class 6A held the Cyclones to 31 yards passing and out of the end zone as the Greenwood Bulldogs won 40-0 at Smith Robinson Stadium. Scott's previous single-game career high was 133 yards against Rogers Heritage in Week 2. It was the second game this season Scott rushed for 100 or more yards.

    Russellville took command of the 7A/6A Central volleyball race Thursday with a 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22 victory over Conway. The Lady Cats, who lost for the second time this season to the Lady Cyclonees in conference play, fell to 15-4, 7-2.
