    Stonington – The Waterford High School girls' lacrosse team huddled in a circle in front of its bench, arms linked, rocking back and forth in unison moments before taking the field for the Eastern Connecticut Conference tournament semifinals Wednesday night. Fifty minutes later, the Waterford bench flooded onto the field and flocked toward the net, mobbing senior goalkeeper Ivanna Hugo in a pile of bodies and screams.

    H.S. lacrosse: Stonington boys win ECC Small title

    Colchester – Jack Riordan had six goals and Tyler Grills five as the Stonington High School boys' lacrosse team came from behind to beat Bacon Academy 14-12 Thursday afternoon to capture the Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division title. Stonington came into the game with one loss in the division, while Bacon and Waterford had two each.

    Groton - Michelina Pinto scored the game-winning goal with 34 seconds remaining as the Fitch High School girls' lacrosse team defeated Ledyard 14-13 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division game Tuesday on Fitch's senior day. Pinto finished with four goals and five assists for Fitch , which qualified for the Class M state tournament with the victory.

    Saints earn share of ECC Small baseball title

    Norwich - Mark Malchiodi's RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and lifted St. Bernard School to a 2-1 victory over Wheeler on Monday at Dodd Stadium and a share of the Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division baseball title. Lyman Memorial had a chance to win the title outright on Saturday, but was upset by Windham 12-11, which opened the door for the Saints against Wheeler.

    H.S. softball: NFA rallies late to beat Wheeler 9-6

    North Stonington - Norwich Free Academy rallied from a late 6-5 deficit to defeat Wheeler 9-6 on Monday in a high school softball game. Shaina Beatrice tied the game for NFA with a two-out inside-the-park home run in the top of the sixth and Britt Clark gave the Wildcats the lead for good with an RBI single later in the inning.
