    Bulldogs Continue to Lead the Pack

    With only three games left in the high school baseball season, there is still much to be decided on which teams will be making the playoffs and who will be packing up their gear soon. There is no confusion at the top of the district 29-6A standings as Alexander continues to lead the pack, earning top two rankings in both major Texas polls plus a #6 mark in the country according to USA Today.

    Longhorns Win Battle of the Uniteds

    United jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after two innings, then both sides went scoreless down the stretch as the Longhorns down the Panthers by that 3-0 score. United holds onto a possibility of still winning the district with the win, while United South misses out on an opportunity to clinch their playoff spot.

    Bulldogs Cruise to Victory

    It was all Alexander Wednesday afternoon as the Bulldogs score 10 runs in the 3rd inning on their way to a 16-0 win over Del Rio. Sergio Macias was brilliant on the mound again for Alexander, holding down the Rams bats while the Bulldogs provided more than enough offense.

    Offense came at a premium Tuesday night as Cigarroa blanked their LISD foes Nixon 1-0. An RBI double from Mando Contreras in the 3rd inning was all the scoring either side would see.

    Randall remains perfect in district

    Randall stayed perfect in District 3-5A play with an 11-4 win over Palo Duro on Tuesday at Palo Duro High School. Randall senior Brett Taff, who has been more of a shortstop and closer this season, looked solid on the mound in his first start.

    It's already been a big year for the Alexander baseball program but now they have hit another first in program history, being the top ranked team in the state. Coming off their 5-0 win over United, today the coaches around Texas named the Bulldogs the top team in the state.

    Alexander Holds Steady, United Climbs in Rankings

    With another week here a new batch of high school baseball rankings are out across the state and a pair of Laredo teams continue to crack the top 25. Alexander remains in the #3 spot after a week with two more convincing district wins. The Bulldogs started off by dominating United South 5-0 on Tuesday thanks to a no hitter from Sergio Macias and backed that up with a mercy rule win over Eagle Pass on Friday.
