    For the second time in the 30-plus years that Coach Kim Hammons has been head coach of the Snohomish Panthers baseball team, the team dominated with an undefeated regular season with a record of 22-0. According to Coach Hammons, this is the team's first undefeated season since 1987, when the record stood at 15-0.

    Eastlake's Nathan Pixler wins District 2 title

    Eastlake High School junior Nathan Pixler has had a target on him since the start of the 2015 track and field season. By Neil Pierson Eastlake High School junior Nathan Pixler duels with Snohomish's Brad Hodkinson during the 1,600-meter championship race at the District 2 meet on May 20. Pixler eventually pulled away to win in 4 minutes, 16.14 seconds, and Hodkinson was second in 4:17.84.

    Closeness key to Lynnwood baseball team's success

    First-year varsity coach Fraser Dizard had an easy job when the Lynnwood High School baseball team began tryouts in March.     Jackson junior starting pitcher Sophie Frost was at her best on Tuesday - and because of it her team earned a berth in Thursday's 4A District 1 Championship game where it will face Snohomish. Frost started her day by pitching a one-hitter in a 2-0 first-round victory over Mount Vernon and finished it with a two-hitter in a 5-2 win over Lake Stevens.

    For the next four innings, it looked like that might be it as far as scoring in the Vikings' 4A District 1 loser-out game against Monroe. Lake Stevens pitcher Nick Hoskins and Monroe's Alex Spahman battled the rest of the way, with Hoskins and the Vikings clinching a berth in next week's regional with a 4-1 victory Saturday morning at Everett Memorial Stadium.
