    Three local prep softball teams - Huntington Beach, Edison and Ocean View - are part of the 2015 CIF Southern Section playoff field. On Tuesday, Ocean View got a jump start in postseason play.

    SOFTBALL: Ocean View figures out Lakeside's Alvarez

    The Huntington Beach Ocean View softball team looked lost and overmatched the first time it faced Cheyenne Alvarez on Tuesday. Alvarez entered the CIF-SS Division 4 wild-card contest just shy of 200 strikeouts, and the junior pitcher from Lake Elsinore Lakeside added six more to her total in the first three innings.

    BASEBALL: Temescal Canyon one win from outright Sunb...

    Temescal Canyon coach Pat O'Grady knows that if the Titans are to claim the Sunbelt League baseball championship, he's going to need the concerted efforts of senior Devin McKesson and junior Dylan Alhanati to reverse the pattern of the past two seasons. Last season, Paloma Valley took two of three from Temescal Canyon and came out on top by a game over the Titans.

    SWIMMING: Titans put on a show

    Just as soon as the Lake Elsinore Temescal Canyon swim teams had wrapped up yet another Sunbelt League championship at Wednesday's league finals at Elsinore High, the Titans' talk turned to the next task at hand. "I think if we all do what we did today, we'll win for sure," said Temescal Canyon's Jacqui Johnson , who won individual titles in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 free and was one of five Titans girls to win an event Wednesday.
