    The Victor Valley girls basketball team took a while to get going in Saturday's playoff game against Temescal Canyon. The Jackrabbits spotted the Titans a 5-0 lead to start the game and were leading by just five at halftime.

    The Bishop Amat girls soccer team has won two CIF-Southern Section championships and advanced to four finals games under coach Ruben Gonzalez in the past decade, but the Lancers were rarely ranked in the Division 2 polls most of the season, an indication that some think the Lancers aren't ready after competing so many years at the lower levels. The Lancers won the Del Rey League and outscored their opponents 33-4, but with only a 17-7 overall record they have much to prove following the release of the CIF-SS playoff pairings Monday .
