    The East Kentwood girls soccer team took a 1-1 tie into the half, before breaking the game open and defeating Forest Hills Central 4-1 on Wednesday. "She's a workhorse," East Kentwood coach John Conlon said.

    Gull Lake's girls soccer team has established itself as one of the state's powers over the past two years with back-to-back Division 2 state titles. The Blue Devils, an eye-popping 45-2-2 during that stretch, have knocked off some of Michigan's best programs, including the likes of Bloomfield Hills Marian, Okemos and others from Division 1 and 2. Gull Lake started its season this past weekend in the Huskie Invite at Kalamazoo College and the Blue Devils showed their quest for a third straight state title is well within reach, despite losing numerous top contributors from last year's team.

Windom's shot came after Ottawa Hills squandered a 15-point fourth-quarter lead, and East Kentwood went up by one late in the fourth quarter.

The Byron Center junior point guard became a steady, go-to player for the Bulldogs during the stretch run of the regular season and into the postseason, where the Bulldogs won their first district championship since 2007.
