    East Kentwood sophomore Andre Welch jumped a school record 23-feet-4.75 inches at the Falcons' 97-40 dual meet win over Rockford on Monday. The jump tied the national sophomore mark set by Seminole High School's Linton Moore, set on March 28. Welch's jump also ties him for the 43rd longest jump at all grade levels nationwide.

    Davenport head women's volleyball coach Megan Lenhart has announced the signing of six new members to the 2015 Panther team. Joining the reigning Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference champions in August are Jessica Marvin, a middle hitter out of Caledonia High; Kasey Stehouwer, a defensive specialist from East Kentwood High; Sydney Tracer, a setter hailing from McCutcheon High in Indiana; Sami White, another setter from Indiana graduating from Southwood High; Ashley VanderHorst, a middle/right side hitter from South Christian High and Sarah Wendling, a middle hitter from Flushing High.

    The Rams fell to Grand Haven 5-4 on Thursday, April 30 to drop to 1-3 in the conference. Jenna Davis homered and Abby Carey doubled, but Rockford stranded eight runners.

    Dedication matters when fatigue sets in for Northvie...

    The stage is set for the Grand Rapids Northview girls soccer team to make a deep run in the postseason, they just have to get through the regular season intact first. Northview is on a win streak after losing to East Kentwood 5-0 on Friday, April 24. The Wildcats defeated Cedar Springs, Greenville and Grand Rapids Forest Hills Eastern between Monday, April 27 and Monday, May 4. Morgan Otteson continued her scoring prowess during the week.

    The Forest Hills Northern baseball team stumbled on May 2 against Byron Center , 12-11, and East Kentwood , 15-5. However, the night before that, the Huskies defeated Greenville , 12-11, in the 10th inning but lost the latter game, 3-1.

    Grand Rapids, MI- The Aquinas College men's and women's track and field teams continued to show well at the WHAC Championships on day two. On the men's side, the Saints received third place finishes from Clay Weidenhamer in the shot put, Jeff Cherry in the 5000 meters, and the men's 4x400 of Tyler Johnson, Joe Slomski, Dionte Williams and Ray Bordeaux.

    After a 5-3 win over Grandville on Monday, the East Kentwood girls tennis team clinched its first conference victory in two seasons. The Falcons are on somewhat of a roll, tying West Ottawa on Wednesday and beat Kenowa Hills 7-1 on Thursday.

    The Mona Shores softball team has never been short on team comradery. The Sailors used that collective bond to record narrow 9-6 and 11-10 wins over rival Reeths-Puffer on April 23. "Our team has a lot of great chemistry," Jason Crago said.

    The Grand Haven boys and girls track teams came into the season expecting to compete within a loaded OK Red conference and hopefully peak in time for the postseason. However, those expectations have been heightened after recent dual meet success and individual growth.
