    Derek Braak , Grand Haven : Both Derek and twin Isaac were three-year varsity players who helped control the middle of the field. The senior contributed five goals and three assists, and was a versatile force for the Bucs.

    The Eagles return 6-foot-8 forward Brent Hibbitts and he remains among the tallest players in the area, all-but-assuring Hudsonville continues to be a force in the conference. Hibbitts also is a surprisingly talented shooter for his size and creates matchup problems for opposing teams at both ends of the floor.

    Grand Rapids Catholic Central 40, East Kentwood 33: ...

    GRAND RAPIDS Expectations are sky high for the Grand Rapids Catholic Central's girls basketball team this season considering the Cougars have a number of key players back from last year's 19-5 team. The Cougars fell behind 5-0 but answered with a 9-0 run to take the lead for good, although they had to hold off a young, stubborn Falcons team the rest of the way.

    College notes: Awards keep rolling in for GLIAC foot...

    Junior defensive end Justin Zimmer, senior center Justin Glover and senior tackle Jacob VanderKlock were two West Michigan football players who were honored recently after the Bulldogs won the GLIAC title with a 11-0 record. All three were named to the Daktronics All-America team.
