    Horn's Huskies went to Kalamazoo Loy Norrix on Tuesday and came away with a 61-49 win by handling the Kinghts' pressure and making plays and free throws when it counted down the stretch. And Horn said it was especially Portage Northern's ability to attack the Loy Norrix press and not turn the ball over that allowed the Huskies to come out on top.

    Hackett Catholic Prep boys basketball coach Todd Meert spoke freely and confidently following Friday night's game against rival Kalamazoo Christian. The only problem for Meert and Hackett is that DeVries plays for Kalamazoo Christian, and his performance proved to be the difference in the Kalamazoo Gazette Game of the Week as the Comets knocked off the Irish, 63-57.

    The Hackett Catholic Preps boys basketball team rode the wave of its "Make March Matter" motto last season to a third-place finish in the KVA and its first district title in 24 years. The Irish entered this season with high expectations, hoping to "Raise the Bar" of the entire program with a KVA title in the league's last year of existence to go along with back-to-back district titles.
