    Kalamazoo Central accomplished just that Monday night at Holt High School and the Maroon Giants made it look easy. For the third time this season, Kalamazoo Central knocked off rival Loy Norrix, 79-49 to advance to Wednesday night's Class A regional final.

    Lansing Everett's Trevor Manuel took a few forearms to the ribs and an elbow to the face during Monday's Class A regional semifinal. The 6-foot-10 senior got the last laugh, though, as he walked off Holt High School's gym as one of the main reason's why Lansing Everett is headed back to the Class A regional finals for the first time since 2004.

    Boys basketball playoffs continue tonight with the regional stage of the tournament and seven Kalamazoo-area teams will be action. Kalamazoo Central, Loy Norrix, Otsego, Hackett Catholic Prep, Constantine, Mendon and Kalamazoo Heritage Christian all picked up district titles this past Friday.

    Dane Preston had 22 points for the Kalamazoo Hackett boys basketball team and Jack Dales had 21 as the team secured its first back-to-back Class C district title since 1996 with a 54-46 win over Kalamazoo Christian on Friday. Preston hit three 3-pointers and had seven rebounds, while Dales had two 3-pointers and went 9 for 10 at the free-throw line.
