    Cougars' Jenkins paves way on court

    Jefferson reached the 100-point mark in two of its first three games last week in the opening week of the boys basketball season. Needless to say, the Cougars' offense was rolling, and there were several players who contributed to their high-powered start.

    Cougars to reap dividends from maturing players

    The Cougars won two of their first three games this season and appear to have their best chance in years to make some noise come the playoffs in March. Sophomore guard Jahlil Jenkins has averaged nearly 23 points per game and senior guard Jalen Smith has added more than 20 as Jefferson features arguably the best backcourt in the Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference.

    Hedgesville rolls past Fort Hill

    Hedgesville coach Kelly Church sprinted to the exit after the first quarter of the Eagles' matchup with Fort Hill, Maryland, during the Gold's Gym Holiday Shootout. Hedgesville scored the first 19 points Friday against a Fort Hill squad wasn't a week removed from a state football championship and still trying to find its basketball legs.

    Hedgesville boys capture season-opener

    Marcus Gulledge doesn't necessarily feel the need to be the primary scorer on a Hedgesville team that opened the season Tuesday afternoon without four of its projected top six players. He just wants to be a leader.
