    Entering the final week of the regular season, the Carlmont softball team didn't think it had much of a chance to win its fourth straight Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division. But then the Knights were stunned 2-1 by Woodside Tuesday and suddenly the Scots were back in the mix and they didn't let the opportunity slip through their collective grasp.

    Danielle Stedman and Courtney Clevenger really know how to spoil things for the host team. The two girls combined for five hits, including a pair of triples and a pair of doubles, to lead the Westmont girls softball team to a 10-9 victory over Half Moon Bay in the championship game of its own event, the Half Moon Bay tournament.

    Baseball: Matchups for PAL tournament set

    The Peninsula Athletic League baseball tournament runs Tuesday through Friday. The top four finishers from the Bay Division get a bye in the first round, so any team but those four would need to win four games in four days to win the tournament.In the first-round games on Tuesday, Woodside is at Sequoia, Aragon is at Capuchino, Mills is at Menlo-Atherton and Hillsdale is at Menlo School, all at 4 p.m. The quarterfinals and semifinals on Wednesday and Thursday are at the higher seed's home field.
