The District 10 baseball and softball regular season is over, making it a one-game season beginning this week for three local teams. The Warren Dragons baseball team will look to answer for last year's early exit from the D-10 playoffs Tuesday against Grove City, while Eisenhower baseball and Warren softball will wait until Thursday to begin their district title defense. The Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame had their annual inductee dinner Friday night and nine athletes were included in the ceremony. The beginning of the dinner had the nine athletes and their escorts make their way around the room to the long table in the front, and then the presentation of the colors was done by the color guard. Caleb Sanford's audience wasn't limited to those specifically taking in the Class AAA boys pole vault competition for Saturday's District 10 track and field meet. Even fans watching the nearby high jump competition changed their focus when the McDowell junior attempted to set a record with a height of 15 feet, 81/2 inches. Comment?

Warren's and Eisenhower's baseball teams and Warren's undefeated defending District 10 champion softball team will play in the District 10 playoffs beginning next week. The Region 6 champion Lady Dragons will play Hickory at 5 p.m. Thursday at Allegheny College in the semifinals of the District 10 Class AAA playoffs. Comment?

After suffering back-to-back losses to start the week, Warren broke out for 12 runs in the first inning of Thursday's non-region game against East and went on to win via mercy rule, 16-1 after three. Despite having already wrapped up a Region 4 championship and earning an automatic spot in the District 10 Class A playoffs, there was one more thing the Eisenhower Knights had to take care of in the regular season. The Knights answered for their first and only region loss with a 5-1 victory over Youngsville Wednesday at Werner Park. Comment?
