    Barlow girls run away with Invite crown - Sunday, 26...

    Barlow's sprint crew led the way for the Bruins to claim the girls team title at Saturday's 51st Centennial Invitational. The Bruins started fast in the primetime racing finals with a dominating win in the 400-meter relay, getting the baton around the track smoothly with anchor Danelle Woodcock zipping toward the finish line before any other team had entered the final exchange zone.

    Barlow 's Danelle Woodcock split her sprint performances Saturday night at the Centennial Invitational, winning the 100 meters and taking second in the 200. Woodcock, won the Class 6A 100 state title two years ago as a sophomore, ran the 100 in 12.27, beating Newport's Rachel Vinjamuri by .13 of a second.

    Grant 's Ella Donaghu rarely gets involved in a track duel these days as the state's dominant distance runner, but she received plenty of competition Saturday night in winning the 800 meters at the 51st Centennial Invitational. Sunset 's Nicole Griffiths locked shoulders with Donaghu for most of the second lap before the Grant junior pulled away near the finish to win by a full stride.

    GRESHAM Grant junior Harrison Schrage, the state's leader in the long jump and triple jump and among the contenders in the 100 meters, pulled out of the Centennial Invitational on Saturday to rest a leg injury. Schrage turned his ankle in a meet April 15, which aggravated an Achilles injury that plagued him last season, according to his father, Grant assistant coach Adam Schrage.

    Lakeridge 's Maddie Rabing kicked off Saturday's 51st Centennial Invitational with an easy win in discus, nearly setting a personal best with a throw of 139 feet, 10 inches. The Pacers junior came into Centennial as the heavy favorite in shot and discus, as she has the season's best throw among Oregon athletes in both events.

    After two tough losses to third-ranked Central Catholic , Clackamas High School's baseball team got back on track on April 15 and April 17, upending Centennial, 19-5 and 12-2. 'I think they were a little angry about how things went on Tuesday ,' said Clackamas coach John Arntson.
