    Aledo senior third baseman Garrett Uhl was probably offering the same sentiments as his coaches after Aledo's 1-0 win in game three over Canyon last weekend that clinched a regional semifinals series. The victory marked the third straight series where AHS had dropped the opener of a best-of-3 series only to come back to win the next two games to seal the series.

    Randall faces must-win matchup

    The Randall Raiders landed as many blows as they absorbed against Fort Worth Arlington Heights in the first game of their Class 5A region semifinal series Friday afternoon. Randall walked six batters and hit three others, most of which came back to haunt the Raiders at Lubbock Cooper's Pirate Field.

    Randall to open region semifinals series today

    There haven't been many bad games for the Randall Raiders this season, as evidenced by their 32-4 record and berth in this week's Class 5A region semifinals. And that's probably the simplest, but most effective, explanation as to why they're in a position to have one of the most successful years in school history when they go up against Fort Worth Arlington Heights at noon today in the first game of a best-of-three series at Lubbock Cooper.

    Former Texas football player remembered

    This painting by Greg Ploetz depicting a play at the line of scrimmage will be auctioned with the proceeds earmarked for the Alzheimer's Assocation. Greg Ploetz with his grandson, Lukas Gregory, died May 11 from the effects of frontal lobe dementia, a disease likely caused by his years of playing football.

    Greg Ploetz with his grandson, Lukas Gregory, died May 11 from the effects of frontal lobe dementia, a disease likely caused by his years of playing football. He was a member of Texas' 1969 national championship team and later coached and taught at Trinity Valley, Country Day and Fort Worth Trimble Tech.
