    Greg Butler has coached in hundreds of softball games throughout his career and he's accumulated a variety of experiences. Butler has watched countless talented players during travel softball and as Parchment's varsity softball coach the past five seasons.

    Fenton girls soccer team full of athletes, including...

    The Fenton girls soccer team, the Flint Journal Team of the Week, boasts 21 players, and several are considered some of the best in Genesee County. Tigers coach Matt Sullivan says he typically has 1-2 players move on to play soccer in college, and this year he has three.

    Flint Powers Catholic long snapper Jake Knight choos...

    A coaching change at Boston College over the winter disrupted Jake Knight 's plans, but the Flint Powers Catholic long snapper has landed at another Atlantic Coast Conference program. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Knight made it official on Tuesday during a signing day ceremony at the school that he is joining the University of Pittsburgh football team in the fall as a preferred walk on.

    Kearsley boys track team wins first Flint Metro Leag...

    Flint Kearsley coach Paul Adas calls the 1,600-meter relay a priority race for the Hornets boys track program, so when his team found itself down 1.5 points with just that race left at Wednesday's Flint Metro League conference championship meet, the 16-year coaching veteran liked his chances. Kearsley's team of Anton Webster , Darrion Young , Trevor Gehrig and Jonathan McKay won the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:30.17 to secure the Hornets' first Flint Metro League championship.

    Midland Dow girls soccer is the No. 3-ranked team in Division 2, and the Chargers made quick work of the competition winning the MLive Saginaw News Team of the Week poll for the final week of spring with games scheduled against archrival Midland and Flint Powers Catholic.

    Bay City Western's Alex Schlatter wins pole vault D1...

    Bay City Western 's Alex Schlatter won the pole vault event at the Division 1 regional championships at Davison on Friday, leading six state-qualifying Warriors. Schlatter won the tie-breaker over Devonte Johnson of Flint Carman-Ainsworth and Bryce Kantak of Midland after the three vaulted to heights of 13-feet-10-inches.

    Showdown time for Bay City Western softball team

    Bay City Western had a perfect week last week, with an 8-0 record. The Warriors swept to 21-0 and 17-0 wins over Saginaw Arthur Hill , and they also swept Saginaw 22-0 and 19-0.

    Flushing boys track has Regionals success in focus

    The Flushing Raiders boys track team has two competitions this week that could not be further apart in terms of significance. On Tuesday, May 12th, they will host Ortonville-Brandon and Fenton in the final league contests of the year to makeup a meet that was postponed in April because of rain.

    Northwestern pitcher Kristen Wood and sophomore right-hander Megan Betsa had nearly matched each other pitch for pitch through two innings. Both had faced one over the minimum over the first two frames, allowing only one hit combined.

    It didn't take long for the Wolverines to showcase their power. After junior infielder Jacob Cronenworth drove a pitch to the left field warning track in the bottom of the first, senior outfielder Jackson Glines did him one better, sending a scorching line drive over the right field wall for his third home run of the season.
