    Softball: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, May 26

    Glenbard East 7, Elgin 3: Sabrina Stockman and Destiny West had 2 hits each for Elgin in its season-ending loss in the play-in game of the Class 4A Fremd regional. Losing pitcher Jessica Rago and Madison Latham each had RBI for the Maroons .

    Lutze, Aurora Christian oust Westminster Christian

    Aurora Christian right-hander R.D. Lutze wasn't sure how much he had left in the tank after throwing over 100 pitches through six innings, but he was determined to finish what he started. After his teammates put up four huge insurance runs in the top of the seventh, Lutze reached back to strike out the final two batters in the host Eagles' 7-2 win over Westminster Christian in Saturday's Class 2A regional final at Waubonsee Community College.

    St. Edward wins sectional 800 relay

    St. Edward's 800-meter relay team and Westminster Christian junior Zach Anderson were big winners Friday night at the Class 1A Seneca boys track sectional. The Green Wave quintet of Dwayne Allen, Enrique Mancera, Albert Lopez and Alex Uscila won the 800 relay in a time of 1:35.21, nosing out second place Mooseheart which ran a 1:35.66.

    St. Charles North, East in sectional dogfight

    After graduating eight seniors from last year's boys tennis team, St. Charles North wasn't expected to equal its success as the 2014 St. Charles East sectional champion at this weekend's East sectional. But this year's North Stars had other ideas.

    Softball: Fox Valley roundup Friday, May 22

    Huntley 5, CL South 2: Under the lights at Bandits Stadium in Rosemont, Huntley scored all of its runs in the fifth inning to beat the Gators in a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game. Megan Larson had 2 hits and an RBI for the Red Raiders .

    Batavia wins West Aurora sectional

    The Bulldogs produced a pair of champions at the Class 3A West Aurora sectional en route to the team championship with 76 points. St. Charles East and West Aurora were not only second and third, respectively, but also tied each other with the most number of qualifiers to the state finals next weekend in Charleston.

    Defense lets St. Edward down in loss to Marengo

    St. Edward was hanging tough with Class 3A power Marengo, but then the Green Wave's defense faltered and Marengo took advantage of every miscue. The Green Wave committed 4 costly errors, 2 in the third inning and 2 more in the fourth, allowing Marengo to score 7 unearned runs and eventually roll to an 11-2 nonconference softball win Thursday at Marengo.
