    Girls soccer: Fox Valley roundup Saturday, April 25

    Elgin at Prospect tournament: Makenna Downing scored twice while Brittany Dazzo, Trisha Quintana, Kylie Graves, Brenda Acuna and Hannah Demel added single goals to lead the Maroons past Sarah E. Goode Academy 8-0 at the Prospect tournament. Demel and Acuna shared time in goal.

    LEMONT – Carter Eberhart contributed three goals and three assists Saturday to lead the Batavia boys lacrosse team to a 9-6 victory against host Lemont. "We had a lot of good things going," Bulldogs senior midfielder Brandon Yunker said.

    Baseball: Fox Valley roundup Friday, April 24

    Johnny Johnson singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive in Tripp Paris with the tying run, and Myles Zilinsky's walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth brought home Austin Hilvert with the game-winner as Bartlett;s baseball team defeated Larkin 6-5 Friday. Cory Krolikowski doubled, tripled, walked twice and scored twice, and Zilinsky earned the Upstate Eight crossover win with 2 scoreless relief innings for Bartlett , which snapped a 3-game slide.

    Even though Larkin pitcher Tanner Gardon wished to finish a second-straight 6-3 victory over Elgin to cap a 3-game sweep at Trout Park Thursday, the senior knew to trust his teammates in the seventh and eighth innings to pick up the win that coach Matt Esterino said Gardon ultimately deserved.     Burlington Central 8, Genoa-Kingston 4: Avery Moore's solo home run to lead off the fifth inning snapped a 4-4 tie, and the Rockets added 3 runs in the sixth to complete a 2-game sweep in the Big Northern East. Central's 5 hits included doubles by Jake Johnson and Andrew Lauber.

    After a loss to Jacobs two weeks ago left the Bulldogs with a 1-7 record, coach Matt Holm did not seem too worried. Holm, in his 22nd year in charge of Batavia, knew his team was just starting to get healthy, especially the starting outfield.

    Dundee-Crown 14, CL South 8: Don't look now, but the Dundee-Crown softball team is in first place in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Megan Emerson was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and 3 RBI and freshman Andrea Conway went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI as the Chargers defeated Crystal Lake South to win their fifth straight.

    Larkin stands on verge of sweeping Elgin

    What Larkin pitcher Jon Lenz lacked in stuff, he made up for with tough in a 6-3 victory over Elgin at Trout Park on Wednesday. Though the senior right-hander admitted he was a tad sore after throwing 20 pitches in a 1⅓-inning save of Tuesday's series opener, he didn't hesitate to make his regularly scheduled start in Game 2 of the 3-game Upstate Eight River series on Wednesday.

    Hampshire 14, Marengo 7: Trey Schramm was 3-for-4 with a triple and 4 RBI, Michael Kruse went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI and Noah Schrader was 3-for-5 as Hampshire won in nonconference action. Jason Fleisner added a double for the Whip-Purs while Jacob Manning was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.

    Bartlett 14, Elgin 6: Lauren Janczak hit a home run and Alyssa Nowak and Sarah Schmitz each doubled to lead Bartlett to an Upstate Eight win. Jemiyah Stewart and losing pitcher Jessica Rago each hit home runs for Elgin , which also got doubles from Madison Latham and Destiny West and a double from Jenna Lombardo.
