    Late rally by Dacula upsets Cats at home

    Apalachee's softball team split a pair of games with a couple of Region 8-AAAAAA teams Wednesday and Thursday at the Lady Wildcats' field to end the regular-season schedule, but Coach Matt Allen has scheduled one more game before tournament play begins. The Lady Cats will travel to Union Grove Thursday for a game with the Lady Wolverines, who blanked Apalachee 9-0 in a preseason scrimmage back on Aug. 11 at the Apalachee field.

    Lady Wildcats clinch share of region title

    The Apalachee High School fastpitch softball team held on for a 6-4 win against visiting Flowery Branch Tuesday evening and clinched a share of a Region 8-AAAAA title in the process. The Lady Wildcats, who capped an 8-1 region record, improved to 17-8 overall.

    Madison County softball tops North Hall

    Madison County's Dani Lukas hit a solo home run in the first inning and drove in Elizabeth Nix in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to give the Red Raiders - ranked No. 5 in Class AAAAA - all the runs they needed Tuesday in a 2-1 victory over North Hall in Region 8-AAAA play.

    Dacula Falcons Go 4-0 with Win Over South

    The Falcons are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Class 6A, Region 8. They are tied for first place in the region with Grayson and Central Gwinnett. Bijan Sirleaf scored two touchdowns, C.J. Mayes returned an interception for a score, and Jakob Brashear scored a TD run for Dacula.
