    Graham Pitches Three-Hit Complete Game in Punxsutawn...

    After having to wait a day due to the weather not cooperating on Monday afternoon, the Curwensville Golden Tide baseball squad was back on the diamond Tuesday to make up the game originally scheduled for the day before. Coming into town, a very tough and very difficult Punxsutawney Chucks squad that was dealing win after win on the season.

    Senior second baseman Derek Danver stretched his hitting streak to eight games in Clarion's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division doubleheaders with Slippery Rock Friday and Saturday. He had a double, drove in a run and scored a run in Game Two of the first twinbill at Memorial Field and had a pair of singles in the opener at Slippery Rock's Jack Critchfield Park the next afternoon.

    After catching a day off on Friday following a long four-game stretch, the Curwensville Golden Tide baseball squad was back on the diamond for a Saturday afternoon contest. Their opposition were the Kane Wolves.

    Four games in as many days does not give a lot of time to prepare for the next opponent, nor does it give an opportunity to recover from the previous day's contest. The Golden Tide of Curwensville finally hit the end of their stretch of four games in as many days.

    The Golden Tide baseball squad of Curwensville felt so good to get on the baseball field after having to wait out weather postponements that put the start to the season on hold. The first game out, it took an extra inning for the Tide to get that first win of the season.

    Sophomore Jessica Shomo won the long jump at the Westminster Invitational in Burry Stadium Saturday with a leap of 5.08 meters . She bested two dozen competitors to help the Golden Eagles place fifth in the 22-team event with 63 points, just three behind host Westminster.

    Try as they might, whether at the mound or at the plate, the Golden Tide baseball team had no answer. The visiting West Branch Warriors found themselves in an early hole, but almost immediately found some needed momentum.

    On Monday, the Curwensville Golden Tide were finally able to take to the baseball field and showcase what all the practice had done during the rainy start to the season. It took an extra inning and a walk-off hit to secure the first win of the year.
