    The Curwensville Area High School wrestling team won its first dual meet of the new season on Tuesday night on the Golden Tide's new home wrestling mat. With five forfeits the Tide rolled to a 41-19 victory over visiting Johnsonburg to pick up that first win, which was also the first for new Curwensville head coach Dean Swatsworth.

    Poor Shooting Costs Golden Tide in 57-55 OT Loss

    Way, way too many misses on layups and free throws doomed the Curwensville Area High School boys basketball team to a fourth consecutive defeat in Patton Hall Friday night. "Two easiest shots in basketball, and we didn't make either one," Golden Tide coach Shane Pentz lamented after watching Kane escape with a 57-55 victory in an overtime thriller.

    Undefeated Warriors Tumble Golden Tide 81-61

    Juniors Kody Trude, Brandon Zwick and Austin Krise combined for 60 points, including seven of West Branch's nine three-pointers, as the undefeated Warriors solidified their Moshannon Valley League lead by handing Curwensville an 81-61 setback in boys basketball action at Patton Hall Tuesday night. The 6-4 Trude flashed his ability to score from everywhere with a trio of bonus shots as well drives and putbacks that ballooned his output to 25 points.

    The Clearfield Area High School boys basketball team controlled the boards with its overall height and aggressiveness and showcased excellent shotmaking to roll past backyard rival Curwensville 71-40 in a non-league game on the Patton Hall hardwood Monday night. Sophomore Tommy Hazel drilled a trio of three-pointers from the left side and another from the top of the key on his way to a 26-point performance, and three teammates joined him in double figures as the unbeaten Bison notched their third win in impressive fashion.

    A spirited effort by the Curwensville Area High School boys basketball team against reigning District 9 Class A champion and state-ranked Ridgway went for naught because of a lack of rebounding Friday night. The undefeated Elkers outworked the Golden Tide under the Patton Hall glass throughout the Allegheny Mountain League South Division game to escape with their fourth win, 38-33.

    Golden Tide Hold Off Rovers 53-51 for First Win

    The Curwensville Area High School boys basketball team erased Brockway's four-point halftime advantage in the third quarter and maintained a slender lead most of the fourth period to edge the Rovers 53-51 in their Allegheny Mountain League South Division opener Monday night. Jake Terry fronted a three-pronged attack with 17 points, including a pair of clutch three-pointers that gave the Golden Tide two-possession leads in the final minutes.
