    Monsignor Donovan boys advance to Gisa Aa state finals

    With a 64-52 victory Friday over First Presbyterian Prep, the Monsignor Donovan boys basketball team will make its first appearance in the GISA Class AA state finals, but the Rams will be facing an extremely familiar opponent. Monsignor Donovan will meet Windsor Academy at 4 p.m. today in the state title game at Mercer University.

    Dawson County girls fall to Laney in AAA quarterfinals

    The top-ranked Dawson County girls basketball team saw their perfect season come to an end with a 70-64 loss to second-ranked Laney in the Class AAA state quarterfinals on Tuesday in Augusta. Dawson County's season is complete, while Laney advances to face Kendrick in the Class AAA state semifinals on Saturday at Columbus State University in Columbus.

    Vikings, Cougars drop games

    Northgate put together eight hits on Saturday against Columbus, but was left with little to show for it in the runs column while taking a tough-luck 8-2 loss to the host Blue Devils in non-region play. The loss dropped the Vikings' record to 0-2 heading into Monday's trip to Newnan for scheduled 5:30 p.m. first pitch between county lineups.
