    Brown leads Amsterdam to victory at Eddy Meet

    The Amsterdam boys track and field team won the team title Saturday at the William F. Eddy Invitational at Schenectady High School. For the fourth straight year, Amsterdam's Izaiah Brown was named the Outstanding Male Athlete, helping Amsterdam claim the team title for the third straight year.

    Shenendehowa scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, including a walk-off RBI single by Kelly Barkevich, and the Plainsmen rallied past Shaker 5-4 in a Suburban Council softball game on Thursday at Shenendehowa High School . Shenendehowa trailed 4-2 entering the seventh, but Marissa Kirker smacked a game-tying two-run double before Barkevich's single.

    Danny Hobbs foiled Shenendehowa during the winter months with his glove and footwork, but on Monday afternoon, he did in the Plainsmen with his right arm and mind. Hobbs, a junior who is also the starting goalie for the school's hockey team, quelled Shenendehowa's offense throughout in leading the Blue Streaks to a 5-1 Suburban Council victory at East Side Rec.

    2. Shenendehowa : Marissa Kirker and Kelly Barkevich both clubbed two-run home runs as the Plainsmen defeated Saratoga 7-3. 3. Colonie : The Garnet Raiders have suffered one-run losses to Shenendehowa, Columbia and Averill Park, but took their worst loss of the season Monday with a 10-0 setback against Guilderland.
