    The Southwestern College football team continues to chase the Victor Valley Rams in the American Mountain Conference standings, and while the Jaguars remain a game behind the front-runners, head coach Ed Carberry's team displayed some genuine championship-caliber spirit in their latest game by overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit to down the host Mt. San Jacinto Screaming Eagles, 34-31, in a key conference game last Saturday.

    Sweetwater hikes win mark to 8-0 with 62-7 victory

    The Sweetwater Red Devils currently have the longest active unbeaten streak among San Diego Section football teams, and it doesn't look to end any time soon by the way the 2013 Division IV CIF champions are playing. Sweetwater extended its unbeaten record to 8-0 this season - 16-0 over the past two seasons - after trouncing the host Hilltop Lancers, 62-7, in the match-up of reigning league champions last Friday.

    CPHS Trojans open league play with 48-0 homecoming win

    From the opening kick-off of the 2014 high school football season, the Castle Park Trojans have been tabbed as the team favored to capture this year's Metro-Pacific League championship. Certainly, the Trojans did nothing to dispel that after defeating the visiting Southwest Raiders, 48-0, in last Friday's homecoming game.

    While there are two weeks left in regular season play, it appears that a championship game has already been set up in the Metro-Mesa League for this Friday. On Halloween, the Olympian Eagles are slated to host the Eastlake Titans.

    While there are two weeks left in regular season play, it appears that a championship game has already been set up in the Metro-Mesa League next Friday, Oct. 31. On Halloween, the Olympian Eagles are slated to host the Eastlake Titans. Both teams are 2-0 in Metro-Mesa League play following key victories on Friday, Oct. 24. "This is the game for the season, it's the league title right now, though obviously, we have another game after that," Olympian head coach Paul Van Nostrand said.

McAleenan posted a team-high 11 tackles, as the linebacker continued his impressive debut season at UNLV after transferring from College of the Canyons.

    Thanks to four touchdowns by C.C. Portillo, the Sweetwater Red Devils remained undefeated on the season by defeating the visiting Castle Park Trojans, 49-21, in Friday's homecoming game. The Devils improved to 7-0 on the season; they also remained undefeated on their home field since the new turf field was installed last year.
