    Finke named Central coach

    It was more than a century ago that Champaign Central last had as many as three different varsity basketball head coaches in a three-year span. That scenario became reality last fall when Sergio McClain was hired as the interim coach after his father, Wayne McClain, passed away.

    Girls soccer: Fox Valley roundup Saturday, April 25

    Elgin at Prospect tournament: Makenna Downing scored twice while Brittany Dazzo, Trisha Quintana, Kylie Graves, Brenda Acuna and Hannah Demel added single goals to lead the Maroons past Sarah E. Goode Academy 8-0 at the Prospect tournament. Demel and Acuna shared time in goal.

    Softball: Fox Valley roundup Wednesday, April 22

    Dundee-Crown 14, CL South 8: Don't look now, but the Dundee-Crown softball team is in first place in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Megan Emerson was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and 3 RBI and freshman Andrea Conway went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI as the Chargers defeated Crystal Lake South to win their fifth straight.

    CL South 1, Jacobs 0: The Gators picked up their first Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win with a goal from Kimmy Sulikowski assisted by Jess Schoenfeldt in the first half. Keeper Jaclyn Przybylski managed 5 saves for her sixth full-game shoutout.

    Hawks Perfection Gets Marooned

    The 12-0 Meridian Hawks soared north to Clinton with continued perfection in their sights, but the Maroons, and junior pitcher Alexis Estes, had other thoughts Clinton would answer Meridian's 3-run third inning with four of its own, and move-on to win 6-3 in the Central Illinois Conference battle
