    Aviators drop NBC opener to 'Cats, 80-55

    Returning four starters, the Canton South Wildcats played well in all phases of the games and rolled to an 80-55 win over the Aviators in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference opener for both teams Friday night in Charles "Red" Ash Gymnasium. "They looked like a veteran team and played like it," lauded Alliance head coach Larry Kukura.

    The only thing that stopped Coldwater senior quarterback Brody Hoying all night was the curtain surrounding the interview area at Ohio Stadium. Hoying couldn't find an entry and was going to walk around to the back to join his teammates after a record-setting performance until coach Chip Otten told him to cut through the black partition.

    Cavs play 'best game' for another title

    The Cavaliers jumped out quickly on Canton Central Catholic and never looked back in winning the school's fifth state title and third straight Division V championship with a record-breaking 62-21 win over the Crusaders Saturday night at Ohio Stadium. Coldwater, ranked second in the final Associated Press state poll, ends the season 14-1.

    For the third straight year, Coldwater walked off with the Division V state championship trophy tonight, and once again multithreat quarterback Brody Hoying stole the show. Hoying rushed for 236 yards and four touchdowns on 21 carries and passed for 99 yards and two scores as the Cavaliers routed Canton Central Catholic 62-21 before a wind-chilled crowd of 7,000 in Ohio Stadium.
