    Off night for Quakers

    Friday night just kept getting longer and longer for the Salem boys basketball team, especially against the second-best team in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference, Canton South. The Quakers were able to keep up the pace for three quarters, but everything fell apart for the Quakers in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats continued to widen the gap and left John Cabas Gymnasium with a 69-40 victory.

    Stark County products play key roles for Buckeyes

    Stark County contributed four high school football prospects to the current Buckeyes, who will meet the Oregon Ducks in the National Championship game tonight in Arlington, Texas at 8:30 p.m. Wide receiver Devin Smith, who played at Massillon, and defensive end Steve Miller, a three-year veteran at Canton McKinley, are starters. Running back Bri'onte Dunn, a starter during his freshman year at Alliance and his final three seasons at GlenOak, and cornerback Gareon Conley, a two-year regular at Massillon, both start on special teams.
