    Roundup: Doughty wins 3,000m run for OU

    Jefferson graduate Brandon Doughty won the Big 12 indoor championship in the 3,000-meter run at the conference meet that concluded Saturday. BUCKHANNON - Megan Wilfong hit a free throw with two seconds remaining Friday night to give Buckhannon-Upshur a comeback victory over Hampshire in the championship game of the Class AAA, Region II, Section 2 tournament.

    Hoops squads back in action

    Buckhannon-Upshur senior Tommy Kotol cranked out 5 three-pointers in The Jungle Tuesday, but it was not enough to deny the homestanding Elkins High School Fighting Tigers from earning a 46-40 win on senior night during Big 10 Conference action.

    Big Red girls top Bucs, 72-59

    A 22-6 point advantage in the third quarter, with Alex Delozier's three treys keying a four 3-ball barrage, propelled Parkersburg High from an eight-point halftime edge into a 62-38 lead en route to a 72-59 girls basketball win over visiting Buckhannon-Upshur Friday evening at Memorial Fieldhouse. The Big Reds, now 13-8, are scheduled to face Hurricane at 5:45 p.m. today at Parkersburg South in the MSAC fifth-place game before starting sectional play at home Wednesday night versus Wheeling Park.
