    Brownstown tops Eastern for Mid-Southern Conference win

    Brownstown Central came up with one of its best opening quarters of the season by jumping on top of Eastern 27-7 and rolling to an 80-47 Mid-Southern Conference win Wednesday night. The Braves started the game shooting 6 for 7 from the floor and were 10 for 15 for the quarter.

    Owls, Braves games postponed tonight

    Seymour and Brownstown Central's junior varsity and varsity boys basketball games scheduled for tonight have been postponed because of the weather. Seymour will now host Greensburg on Thursday, with JV beginning at 6 p.m. and varsity to follow at 7:30 p.m. Also, Brownstown Athletic Director Mark DeHart announced Monday that the Braves' game at Providence scheduled for Saturday has been moved because the Pioneers' girls team is playing in the regional that day.

    SPORTS: Columbus East knocks off No. 4 Braves

    With junior point guard Zach McCory out with an ankle injury, it was obvious that the Brownstown Central boys basketball team was missing its usual creativity when it came to running its offense. Even so, the Braves made a huge run at host Columbus East on Thursday before falling 60-53 in a nonconference game against a Class 4A opponent.
