    An impressive collection of prep and public school boys basketball talent will take the court this week at the BasketBull Hoops Fest from December 17th-20th at Western New England University in Springfield. On Wednesday, a pair of central Massachusetts prep schools will face off at 6:30 p.m. when Worcester Academy and Lawrence Academy tip off.

    Anicel Pouriet powers Charlestown boys to victory

    Anicel Pouriet compiled 14 points and seven assists to lead Charlestown to a 70-53 nonleague victory against Whitinsville Christian in boys basketball action last night. Senior guard Erin Duffey had 11 points and four steals as Scituate opened its season by beating Nauset , 48-35, in nonleague play.

    The Eagles caught a tough break in the Super 8 semifinals last year, losing in a shootout to Austin Prep after sweeping Xaverian in the quarterfinals. They opened this year with an 8-0 win over Matignon Thursday, and with Patrick Kramer and Ryan Shea returning, they should contend for the state title again.
