    The following athletes were among those nominated for Oregonian/OregonLive athlete for their accomplishments during the week of March 16-21: Maddie Rabing , Lakeridge girls track : The Pacers junior established early-season state bests in the shot and discus during a four-way meet at Oregon City. Rabing is the defending Class 6A state champion in shot, and took second a year ago in discus.

    Loncar won a couple of state titles for Liberty before graduating in the spring of 2014 and moving on to a college swimming career at the University of Denver. Clearly, he has adjusted just fine to the college scene, as he has qualified for the upcoming NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.

    Kingsmen bow out in the play-in round

    One bad quarter proved costly, as Rex Putnam's girls basketball team bowed out of the Class 5A state playoffs on March 4, losing 47-38 in a play-in game at Bend. The Lava Bears outscored the Kingsmen 21-9 in the second period and the Kingsmen were playing catch-up the rest of the way.
