    Huntington too much for Big Reds

    Parkersburg High never got started here Friday night, dropping a 41-6 decision to Huntington in a Mountain State Athletic Conference contest. After PHS took the opening kickoff and punted after one first down, the Highlanders drove from their 49 to the PHS 14, setting up all-state candidate Cason Kessinger for a 31-yard field goal and a 3-0 Huntington lead.

    Martinsburg tops Beckley for title

    Most Valuable Player Sophie Foster stuffed a spike attempt by Woodrow Wilson's Makayla Walton to seal match point here Saturday night inside Memorial Fieldhouse as Martinsburg captured the 39th annual Snowball Invitational crown by rallying past the Flying Eagles, 20-25, 25-22 and 25-20. Two-time defending champion and host Parkersburg High School, which landed Ciara Miller and Courtney Ball on the all-tournament team, was ousted in the semifinals by the Bulldogs, who scored a 17-25, 25-13 and 25-21 victory.

    Trembly leads PHS past Woodrow Wilson, 24-0

    Parkersburg's defense pitched its first shutout since 2009 and the Big Reds forced six turnovers here Friday night at a rain-soaked Stadium Field in front of a sparse crowd to hand 14th-ranked Woodrow Wilson a 24-0 Mountain State Athletic Conference setback. Josh Trembly fired a trio of touchdown passes and Chase Shank sealed the game early in the fourth with a 44-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown as the Big Reds upped their record to 3-3 with a road game next Friday at Huntington.
