    Kevin Milam is dominant in Heritage High baseball win

    Heritage High's Kevin Milam, shown pitching in a 2014 game against Liberty, threw a complete-game three-hitter on March 28 as the Patriots defeated California 3-0 to bring their record to 8-2. Milam struck out 10 and walked two.

    Tatyana Allen's two-run, eighth-inning home run powered Tulare Western to the marquee win of the opening day at the 18-team Washington Invitational, a 4-2 defeat of Rancho-Las Vegas, which entered ranked No. 5 in the nation according to the Maxpreps Xcellent 25. Including a 4-0 victory over Argonaut-Jackson, the Mustangs went 2-0, as did Central, which rode Gianna Mancha's 14 strikeouts to a two-hit, 8-0 win over Pleasant Valley-Chico and Alyssa Avila's big day to a 3-2 win against Pacheco-Los Banos.

    Cougars beaten by Liberty Christian again, 56-34

    The sixth-seeded Paradise Adventist Academy boys basketball team fell at No. 1 Liberty Christian, 56-34 in the inaugural Northern California Division VI finals Tuesday night in Redding, making it two straight losses that the Cougars have suffered to the Patriots this year dating back to the 22-point drubbing in the Northern Section D-VI championships March 6 at Butte College's Cowan Gym.
