    Tehachapi track and field look to run past competition

    After finishing fifth overall in 2014 SEYL standings, Tehachapi head varsity track and field coach Mike Heckathorn hopes that a few new faces from last year's SEYL championship Braves and Lady Braves teams will garner them a league title during their first year in the South Yosemite League. "The team has experience at the lower levels," he said.

    Water Warriors ready to dive into 2015 season

    It will be a new year in a new league for Tehachapi's swimmers, as the Warriors move from the familiar confines of the Southeast Yosemite League to the South Yosemite League in 2015. That move has head coach Leanna Delgadillo feeling pretty confident about grabbing the school's first league title since the 2011-12 season.

    Boys Tennis: balanced lineup with depth

    Tehachapi boys tennis head coach Rick Lund doesn't seem worried even though his team has a change of leagues and only return four of the Warriors top 10 varsity players from 2014. There is still a strong belief in winning, and a balanced lineup with a few experienced seniors and several up and coming underclassman has Lund eager for 2015.

    A triumphant Lady Warriors softball team after taking first place in the Leadoff Classic Softball Tournament on Feb. 28. Photo courtesy of Becky Sasia After a 6-5 victory over Garces in the finals, the Tehachapi High School Varsity Girls Softball team finished the Leadoff Classic Softball Tournament in first place. The championship game of the tournament against the Garces was held on Saturday, Feb. 28. Mariah Godde pitched for the entire game, striking out 12 batters throughout the game.

    2015 Class A girls basketball section preview

    The final class to be examined as well as the final section preview of the winter sports season is Class A and in some sections the final 2014-15 installment of "Who's Left Standing?" In Section 1, the top four seeds remain in the East Subsection. The top seeded Fillmore Central Falcons, the second seeded Rushford-Peterson Trojans, the third seeded Spring Grove Lions and the fourth seeded Wabasha-Kellogg Chargers.

    Behind goals from Haylee Hoelzel and Lauren Alexander, the third-seeded Hawks captured their fourth section title across three divisions in the past nine years with a 2-1 defeat of top-seeded East Bakersfield on Thursday in the Division III final. Liberty won the D-IV title in 2012 and scored D-V crowns in 2010 and 2007.
