    Rally helps Nationals salvage Senior Bowl streak

    Walton's Breyon Thomas returned a blocked field goal 50 yards for a touchdown and helped the Nationals rally from a 17-point second-half deficit to beat the Americans 42-38 on Saturday in the eighth annual Cobb All-Star Senior Bowl at McEachern's Walter Cantrell Stadium.

    East Coweta's girls basketball team posed two arguments to Region 3-AAAAA opponents during Friday's 48-31 win over South Cobb at John Thrower Gym. The first was the Lady Indians proved they will be a tough opponent even among a talented list of schools this season after notching their second straight region victory.

    East Coweta and Northgate may be hoping for a homefloor advantage tonight when hosting region opponents after coming up on opposite ends of the scoresheet on Tuesday. The Lady Indians take on South Cobb while coming off arguably their most complete game of the season against Campbell.

    EC, Newnan place 9 on All-Region First Team

    Much as they did during the 2014 season, Westlake and Langston Hughes standouts led the way upon the announcement of this year's All Region 3-AAAAAA Football Team during a meeting of its eight head coaches on Friday. While respective Player of the Year selections - each of which were obvious choices - went to senior standouts outside the county, East Coweta and Newnan combined for nine First Team and eight Second Team selections with seniors J.K. Britt of the Cougars and Cole Antley of the Indians earning hon- ors in multiple positions.
