Never never shoot at any young man unless he is actually attacking you. This young man was obviously killed by a nut who mistrusted young black males. The killer looked much more dangerous.

Watched Dateline last night that shed new details. Seems the shooter did have marks on him from the attack that were inflicted by the young man. If so, it is self-defence. Not racially motivated at all. Some of the people speaking on his behalf were his African American neighbors. We will never know the whole story but this is not a racist motivated event. Move on.

a wanab cop chases a kid down and attacks him. the P.O.S that had scratchs on him got them because the poor kid was trying to defend himself. seventeen year old boys always attack people who chase them down by scratching their victims. how stupid to think that the kid was attacking the dirt bag who shot him. hope zimmeron gets the death penelity.

As I weigh in on this terrible tragedy, I do so with a heavy heart to think that with some of the media being focused on Zimmerman's self defense excuse, a young life that will necer be abke to tell his side of the story is gone.
For a man to think he can just take the law and interpret it his way is an injustice to the system. Stand your ground does not apply in this case especially after Zimmerman was told not to follow Travon. 911 tapes don't lie.
Plain and simple Zimmerman was and is a vigilanty. Regardless of what his neighbors said on Dateline, does not give him the right to pursue in the name of justice.
While we don't know all the facts, one fact is perfectly clear!!!! A young child is dead with no recourse to clear his name.
It's still a sad day in America where one is judged by the color of their skin, hunted down and executed for no reason yet the hunter( and that is what I potray Zimmerman as) did just that. There is no excuse big enough to explain this away.
I'm sure that there will be ensuing comments to the contrary. But as you do think about how those parents feel knowing that their kid will not have the right, privilege and opportunity to grow up and present his case of a productive life in this world but Zimmerman surely will. THINK ON THIS!!!!

i'm wondering why you would approach someone that you thought to be a danger. He was told not to follow but did any way. If i thought someone was dangerous i would be afraid they would kill me and would stay back until help arrived.

This is horrible two lives destroyed. If he would of just stayed in the car like he was told this would have never happened. I feel sorry for both parties involved.

The man needs to be arrested and tried like anyone else. If it had been the other way around, the boy would have been arrested on the spot, no questions asked.

Really wht is this about race if the young boy was white Hispanic or any other race this man would have still called the police. Police new him well he had called on a number of occasions and guess what they weren't all black. This man was tryin to protect his community and by doing so he made some really dumb judgement calls. first one was he followed the young black man instead of staying put like he was told. Sad situation that should have never happened.

The one thing you got right was -- he was dumb and the situation should have never happened. If this gated community was so caught up in a neighborhood watch program; another question might be why weren't there others out patrolling? It seems that the neighbors knew of Zimmerman's personality and all of the nuisance calls made to the PD. His actions were and will be deplorable, inexcuseable and a crime. A young innocent kid was killed and tagged "John Doe" and drug tested at a morgue. Zimmerman was allowed to go home.

Gated communities usually pick one person to watch at least in mine we had people volunteer and take turns not several people patrolling. In this case the man volunteered do it all the time which seems as if he had alot of time on his hands. The fact is that everyone wants to put this man to death instead of punishing him properly. He does deserve to be punished even if it was self defense as he claims he still took his life and after he was told to stay in his car. Come on people lets be fair it is a tragic but let's dont burn him at the steak because it was a black kid and everyone wants to play the race card. The shooter was not racist so fold.

Innocent kid, why was Trayvon trespassing in a gated community?
Oh, wait that doesn't matter....the shooter was white and therefore guilty.

Probably for the same reason the Looky Loo's flock to a wreck....or any kind of scene that draws police and EMS and Fire.
They have no business there, but, the Emergency Crews still have to fall all over them to try and do their job.

It would help if the real story was told and not just the parts that the press thinks is interesting to make their point.

Get your facts straight.. he was not suspended for dope. He was suspended for tardy infraction to which he was also disciplined at home. But he was also an A student and wanted to be a pilot one day. Kids of all races have been tardy and suspended from school so don't try to hide behind that as a reason for justification.

Even Fox news got that right. Whether he was walking through a so called gated community or not and mind you walking not running in and out of yards did not give Zimmerman the right to shoot him or continue to follow him after 911 told him to stop. Look at the time line...shortly after 911 and the shooting PD were on the scene. So there was a reaction response by LE.
Now new News coming forth that has been uncovered ...Zimmerman's father is also a retired judge. Zimmerman himself has been in trouble with the law before reportedly for asault on LE., domestic violence. Hmmmm?? Google it.
Sounds like a cover up big time.
The fact remains a young man's life has been taken and he isn't able to tell his story.
Why are these "witnesses" for Zimmerman just now coming forth? Movie deals and book deals for their account. You better be sure they are in it for themselves and could "care less about the truth"

This story really bothers me I am a mother and I'm upset this young kid was even out walking alone at night. I mean in today's society as parents it's our job to protect them even if we have to be over protective. The days where we can keep our doors unlocked and let our kids walk a mile to the store is long over. I am truly disgusted that another young man life was taking so many people at fault here. The parents should have took him to the store Martin should have not been in a gated community and the shooter should have never followed him. If theses things would have took place than that young man would still be alive.

Hey, don't be hating on Zimmerman, the statistics show that kids like Trayvon grow up to be criminals so just because he wasn't doing something criminal THIS TIME, you know that killing him saved at least 5 white women from rape, possibly 3 murders, countless armed robberies, tons of drug sales and at least 40 illegitimate kids from being born. It was a good thing and I think George should be heralded as an American Hero and he should be compensated out of the Crime Stoppers funds. Praise the Lord

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Libra

You're in an idealistic mood today and only want to see the best in other people. This is typical Libran behaviour, because you aren't good at facing up to harsh reality at the best of times. Today, you're ready to believe that someone is a candidate for sainthood or that they're the best thing that's ever happened to you, regardless of whether it's true or not.
