OK, I posted this in a different thread but heres my take, I think its more appropriate in this one:

You see, this is what bugs me about this so called "Black crime". And no, I am not racist (wife is black). But I have alot of "friendly" arguments with my Afro American friends.

Everyone makes a huge uproar over Trevor Martin and Zimmerman. Maybe Zimmerman is an overzealous gunhappy idiot. Perhaps he is also a bigotted racist as well. I dont know. To me, it is a very isolated incident. But I am sad that his parents lost a child. But if this child was shot by another black?

So to me, what is really hypocritical and more disgusting is black on black violence. More black youth and black adults are killed by blacks gangbanging in LA, Houston, Chicago and Detroit but you don't hear Al Sharpton or Reverend Jackson raising hell about this. THIS is what is a travesty and Black people need to take a hard look at themselves and start doing something about it.

But I guess its OK if black kills black.
__________
And I will add, this is what is more of a travesty. Whites really couldn't care less and blacks are the ones that have to go the extra mile and make their community aware of this - its their problem. If this kid was shot via gang violence, we never would have heard his name but his parents would be nevertheless devastated as it happens time and time again. Wheres the outrage???

And when I say wheres the outrage, I mean wheres the outrage in the black community. Teenage sex, drugs, gangs. Its all glorified in their rap music and this has to be their responsibility. They have to lift themselves up.

Cosby tried and is now considered a sellout for speaking his mind. http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politi...

the black community? POVERTY-INEQUALITY-IGNORANCE those are social problems that have been with us since time immemorial, granted blacks, being a large minority, come out tops in criminal activities. Your outrage is understood but...cool it, daddy or momma, life's a riot! Are we to wallow in our sorrows or celebrate the present situations? Sure teenage pregnancies, illegal abortions, hospital overcrowdings, false loyalties are rampant. Gotta live the best we can. Music taste differs but you've got to catch the drift. No glorification of EVIL is ever intended, you bigot, it's simply telling it like it is.'Lift themselves up' that's how it is regardless of who 'themselves' are, whites, blacks, chicanos, white Hispanics, black Hispanics, oriental Hispanics or any variation. Live and let live.

ok, so you are not a bigot, just one who critizices rap music in an uncaring way. Music is the mirror to our feelings and rap is a way of life of young people, trapped, in a world that teaches them about obtaining self-gratification at the sake of others. I will say it, it sounds brutal, but that is what you are talking about, violence towards each other, children, women. You have to know what the problem is before you can mend it and 'rapping' it out is one way. Some black families are decent to the point of appearing to 'be trying to be white' What a bigotted phrase. Life is life and nobody holds a patent on it. Again, live and let live.

is camile? And it is not relevant to a kid getting shot - it is a deflection and a diversion from what happened here.

I have absolutely nothing against rap. Although I would rather listen to Oscar Lopez, SRV or Ray Guy anyday. I am only saying that the black community has bigger problems than this VERY isolated incident compared to all the death that is REALLY a travesty to the black community. And blacks need to take responsibility for themselves such as rap singers (50cent, lilwayne, birdman) who glorify guns, sex, dealing, violence. But I guess you are saying live and let live - or more appropriate, live and let die?

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Aries

Your emotions have the upper hand, making you rather fiery and fervent. That's great if you're hoping for a passionate encounter with you-know-who, because you'll be really hot stuff. However, in non-sexual situations you could become somewhat tempestuous and irritable, especially if you suspect that things aren't going the way you want.
