America shouldn't even provide a hole in the fence or a shore to land on without becoming legal first.

Use your brains, people. Do you want to turn public schools into an arm of ICE? Will that be a good use of education dollars? And what will be accomplished? Will immigrants cease entering the country (or staying in the country) illegally? Will those already here leave? Not likely on either count.

It may force some kids into hiding and ensure that they grow up illiterate.

Immigration enforcement needs to take place at the point of employment as well as at the border and through criminal investigations of the sorts of folks who traffick in humans.

Too many folks too ready to jump onto too many over-simplified solutions without thinking!

We already have kids in hiding. Enforcement needs to occur wherever the illegals are. That includes in the schools. Seeing their children cuffed and hauled off to detention might convince parents to do things legally or go home.

Too many folks willing to spend other people's money without regard for the law.

Those who break the rules should not be rewarded for their rule breaking. This is where the atheist liberals will now use some form of religion. Lawless people need to stay out of this country.

They are not contributing to the school system through taxes, etc. If there are no consequences to being illegal, why would they want to do it the right way?

All immigration to America should be through legal channels; no illegal immigrants are entitled to specific rights (other than normal human rights) or services until they become legal immigrants. All should be considered liable to arrest and deportation.
