I support offshore drilling because quite simply, it supports me. We already buy almost all of our oil when we have land like Alaska which is filthy rich with oil deposits, tons of them. It is basically like having a great meal sitting at the table, ready to be enjoyed and we are chewing on dirt and sinking farther into national debt, but it is okay because that is our future kid's problems, not ours, right? I support all the drilling possible because it supports my home state, and lets so many people that I know have opportunity and success, and the ability to be financially stable to raise wonderful families. BP was corrupt and they did a horrible thing, but it wasn't our fault. If one person gets hurt in a car accident, do we discontinue the use of cars?..Absolutely not. Support drilling, and support our way of life. P.S. Obama is a moron, just saying.

Like everyone says it was BPs fault at what happened.I also took a finacial hit because of the moratorium. Obama shouldnt be useing this as a get back because Jindal turned down alot of his stimulus package, including unemployment benefits.

The oilfield has supported many families for many years in LA, to leave these people financially destitute is diabolical. Besides, I don't see any liberals riding bicycles.

But, I see a lot of Right Wingers (other extreme) riding in Cadillac/Lincoln/Lexus SUVS (not to mention jets)- laughing all the way to the bank.

There is a way to have drilling while taking care of the environment and good paying jobs; call it compromise. The oil companies are making billions in profits. They can afford to work within the EPA regulations. Obama is having the EPA look over the regulations that they are complaining about, but will not sacrifice water or air. Would you want him to?

Again, keep in mind, the people making the big bucks don't live here. Think "Coal Mining", that used to be the big "Boom", now the people in that area live in poverty and the land/mountains were damaged. Is that what you want for Louisiana?

The people of Florida and California didn't. They diversified their industries. We can do it too. If they want to drill, they need to respect the environment as if they live here. Its not just about money!!!

Your example of a car accident is simple minded. The BP/Transocean/Halliburton incident not only compromised that location, but others (its apparent that you nor anyone close to you work in gulf deep water drilling). The investigation showed the broken MMS. You need to read more. Obama did not stop drilling as a whole, like you implied in the car accident example, but in a specific area of drilling (remember 11 lives were lost and over a hundred people who survived will never be the same, not to mention their families). Obama's slow down and take names approach is to fix broken departments and regulations so this DOES NOT HAPPEN again (can't guarantee it, but better safe guards needed).

As someone else said on another post, "If you start calling people names, you are loosing the argument." Stick to the facts. nuf said!

I refuse to support a president that is ruining our nation. Read "The Roots of Obama's Rage". The man hates Americans and his goal is take this country down. The environment is "small potatoes" compared to what is really going on in this country. The earth is ever changing....it will continue to evolve. Working people that once lived good lives, are barely getting by while deadbeats are free loading. By the way, the person typing in all caps, you're hollering.

I don't read fictions parading as FACT.

"Take the country down"! Are you a billionaire with money in foreign banks (hiding from taxes due)?

The man has been in office 2-1/2 years. Has done good things for hard working Americans! Would like to do more.

Repub candidates want to create a whole bunch of immigrant jobs, you know min. wage with no benefits. If this catches on, then you will soon have one of these jobs. Is that what you want? Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi are amoung the poorest states (min. wage jobs with no healthcare); no pride in being on that list. I bet you did not know that Republican states take from Democract states, take more money from Washington than they send/leave there. Rick Perry never seemed to have a problem taking money for his state until he started campagining. What a MORON!!!!!!!

People used to spend more money on "good for you" food and less on medical bills, now "processed foods with antibiotics" cost less, but medical treatment is way up. Affordable public option, birth to grave, is the way to go. The way to secure Medicare. Keep in mind if the Republicans have their way, it will go away!!!

When man messes with the eco system, mixing chemicals in the natural environment, don't you think there just may be a negative reaction?

One more thing: The Republican candidates seem to think that you should be rich in order to have healthcare insurance. I am talking about millionaire status - own a corporation or two, college educated with a few more letters behind your name.

Do all of you believe this? Keep in mind, if they have their way, it may happen.

I will tell you this with all the certainty in the world - God does NOT believe or support those ideals! He loves all of his people!

I called Rick Perry a MORON, fact. He thought he could campaign and no one would report on what was really going on in Texas.

Read books about that. Check it out on the internet.

Obama has managed to keep the US out of two major wars (ground troops); W. was not able to do that!!!

He is playing well with his NATO partners; good for the US.

He gave into the Very Rich last December by not raising taxes in exchange for good jobs with benefits. They HAVE NOT come thru and you seem to think this is his fault. What?

Wake up befor it is too late and we all lose,(Medicare, Social Security, good jobs w/benefits).

Right now one man one vote, if corporate America takes control, it will be do as they say (period).

Drilling never stopped completely. The oil companies held the US hostage by threatening to leave the gulf. With the billions they make in profits, why not work with the government and come up with a safety plan right away? Don't they all say "Their employees are their greatest asset." Then they should prove it.

Didn't anyone wonder why they did not do this? Because it costs money. As long as the life lost is not their life, money comes first.

When one life is not valued, soon no life will be valued. Then you have a situation like what is going on in Africa. Is that what you want. No taxes; just guns!

You need to read more. Find out what is really going on in the world; not just at the local bar.
