Check instead the misery index (unemployment plus inflation). It's the the highest it's been in 30 years.

Check instead the value of the dollar relative to gold, which is a steady measure. In August '07 just before the election of Obama, gold was $700 per ounce. Today gold is $1,700 per ounce.

Check the value of the dollar compared to other currencies from countries that import to the US. The dollar is worth less than it has been for a very, very long time.

Check the number of people on food stamps. It's higher than it's ever been.
