All the same, It has been evident in recent years that marriage relationships are deteriorating in our society. Satan is trying to destroy the home, moreover we praise God for every effort toward its preservation.God's blessing is upon the husband-wife relationship.Proverbs 18:22 says [Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing , and obtained favor of the lord]. Not only does marriage and the husband-wife relationship have a blessing from the lord, but also in God's Word we are given guidelines by which we can maintain the husband-wife relationship as god intended it to be. Marriage was meant to be a bleesed relationship, or is it a strained ordeal? In Ephesisans 5 we observe that the husband-wife relationship is compared to that of Christ and the Church. In other words, our model indicates that the husband-wife relationship is one that lasts forever, a kinship that grows sweeter as the years go by, a relationship that provides an example of peace and joy, a relationship that will weather the storms and the trials of life, and one against with the gates of Hell cannot prevail. Hopefully we can say that by the grace of God we have found our relationship in the home to be that way.

Genesis 1 and 2 God created Mankind Male and Female and established the marriage relationship as His will for His people. Thus homosexuality, is a perversion of Gods plan for sexual expression, it is a crime against nature.

Genesis 19:1-26 The men of Sodom were notorious for their homosexuality. Obviously the word "sodomy" meaning homosexuality, comes from the name of the city. When the men and women tried to rape Lots two male guests, God told His people to get out, then destroyed the entire city with fire and brimstone.

Great. So you think the gov't has to recognize your relationship for you to be happy?

BTW being happy is not a right.

Hanover,
You have the right to believe in your mythical sky fairy. Everyone has the right to pursue happiness. If that so happens to be with a same sex partner, so be it. Why can 2 men or 2 women not be happy?

By the way Hanover, are you going to quote and support the entire bible? The following passages come to mind:
"I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. She must be quiet." (1 Timothy 2:12)
"Go, now, attack Amalek, and deal with him and all that he has under the ban. Do not spare him, but kill men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and asses." (1 Samuel 15:3)

"You shall not let a sorceress live." (Exodus 22:18)

"Happy those who seize your children and smash them against a rock." (Psalm 137:9)

"When the men would not listen to his host, the husband seized his concubine and thrust her outside to them. They had relations with her and abused her all night until the following dawn, when they let her go. Then at daybreak the woman came and collapsed at the entrance of the house in which her husband was a guest, where she lay until the morning. When her husband rose that day and opened the door of the house to start out again on his journey, there lay the woman, his concubine, at the entrance of the house with her hands on the threshold. He said to her,'Come, let us go'; but there was no answer. So the man placed her on an ass and started out again for home." (Judges 19:25-28)

"Jephthah made a vow to the Lord.'If you deliver the Ammonites into my power,' he said,'whoever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites shall belong to the Lord. I shall offer him up as a holocaust.'... When Jephthah returned to his house in Mizpah, it was his daughter who came forth, playing the tambourines and dancing. She was an only child: he had neither son nor daughter besides her. When he saw her, he rent his garments and said,'Alas, daughter, you have struck me down and brought calamity upon me. For I have made a vow to the Lord and I cannot retract'." (Judges 11:30-1, 34-5)

"Then God said:'Take your son Isaac, your only one, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. There you shall offer him up as a holocaust on a height that I will point out to you'."(Genesis 22:2)

"Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord." (Ephesians 5:22)

"Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and equitable but also to those who are perverse." (1 Peter 2:18)

A better question is why you need the federal gov't to bless your relationship before you can be happy.

And other question is why 3 men or 3 women or 3 men AND 3 women cannot be happy.

I do not need approval from anyone. I just want all couples to have the same rights under the law. All couples should be eligible for insurance etc regardless of the sex of their partner.

The marital situation you are referring to is called polygamy it is illegal in all states. It is an accepted practice of the Mormon faith.

You have the same rights.
Marriage is not a right. The fact that siblings can't marry proves that.

Again, does that include siblings who want to get that insurance?

Sawber,
I am not a bigot. I support all non related (for health reasons) CONSENTING ADULT HUMANS being able to marry and receiving all benefits thereof. I personally do not care what you want to call it as long as all couples receive the same benefits as the traditional married couple.

If you are against it, then do not marry a same sex partner but truly, you have no way to lose if someone else receives the same benefits as others.

I have yet to see a legitimate argument against it. I do not count the bible thumping zealots.

So siblings should be allowed to marry and have the gov't legally recognize it? If it is a right, then they should.

Yep. So, why is it illegal if it is a right to have the gov't recognize your marriage?

Ignore the other message. I thought that was your new one.

So are you or are you not supportive of sibling marriage? Or are you against all people which a chance of having a kid with birth defects getting married?

If you are against it, then do not marry a SIBLING but truly, you have no way to lose if someone else receives the same benefits as others. Right?

If you are against it, then do not marry a MULTIPLE PEOPLE but truly, you have no way to lose if someone else receives the same benefits as others. Right?

And I hate to break it to you, but if you are against sibling marriage or polygamy, that makes you a bigot, by definition.

It was a simple question.

Unfortunately, I also showed you the implications of the answer that you (and most normal people) would give.

So at least I made my point that the gay marriage issue has significant implications beyond gay marriage. It is simply to complex to look at in a vacuum.

But some general advice: When you get to a point in a discussion where you realize you have lost and cannot comment without undermining your position, it is better to just not post instead of insulting the other person. It makes you look petty but still points out to everyone reading that you lost the argument.

It is far better to not comment at all and just go re-evaluate your position to figure out why you are holding onto a position that cannot be fully defended.

All couples, including siblings. Gotcha.

And if marriage is a right, you HAVE to include polygamists.

Webster Online:
po·lyg·a·my

Definition of POLYGAMY

: marriage in which a spouse of either sex may have more than one mate at the same time

What makes you think marriage is a right?

there shouldnt be laws about who can marry who. if you love someone and you want to marry them then you should be able to. no matter who they are, no matter what sex they are/you are. (by the way, you should think about the fact that i am a perfectly straight 12 year old girl, so this doesn't really affect me at all, but i still feel very strongly about this.)

So a brother and sister should be allowed to legally marry in the eyes of our gov't?

Or are you going to backpedal on the "no matter what"?
