That's great, but we are talking about legal marriage and the financial benefits (from the taxpayers) that go with it.

So from your statement, you are also good with sibling marriage as well as polygamy.

BTW, not only was Boswell gay and biased, his interpretation is questionable. http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/pwh/bosrev-pag...

And if we are looking at just "marriage" and not legal marriage .

Marriage needs to remain between a male and a female-is there no common sense in America anymore?

No ones talking about changing the law about marrying family, so that's a moot point. I'm actually OK with polygamy. I wouldn't want to be in a poly marriage, but to each their own.
And I did say consenting, so your pet or inanimate object is obviously unable to consent.

Rights are moot?

I though the whole gay marriage argument is that it is a right.

I think this kinda sums up the whole gay marriage thing. One of the commandments thats hard to get around.
Honor your father and mother..........
not your mother and mother, or your father and father, or you transgendered mother and actual mother, or your transgendered father and other father.
think about this way....there is still a mother and a father involved. it takes a man and a woman to make a child. just becuase one of them is not in the childs life does not mean do they do not exist. with your way of thinking a child who is born fatherless, becuase the father passes before the child is born, or a mother who passes during labor than that child is going against a commandment.

i think if a person loves someone of the same sex and wants to marry a person of the same sex their choice not yours or mine. let them be happy they way they prefer to be happy.

for whoever the person who posted its adam and eve not adam and steve...think about this way. eve was delevoped from adam. god created her from adams rib, so my way of thinking eve is also adam.

Go back and re-read the whole post. That statement wasn't in reply to gay rights but in a comparison to gay marriage to incest. If your gay and trying to marry your brother, I suppose I'm saying you don't have a right to marry by law. But its a moot point if the gay couple is not related. Because the incest marriage laws are not what they are trying to change.

OK, let's start over.

Is marriage a right?

You do realize that includes siblings and also includes polygamists, right?

Yes I do. While I wouldn't marry a sibling myself, it doesn't bother me if someone else does. And as for polygamy, that's been going on for thousands of years. If all parties involved in it are in agreement, then what does it hurt. Something should not be illegal or immoral just because we don't agree with it, not everybody believes in the Bible or God, I do, but I can't judge what other people do with their own lives. I think there would be a lot less fighting and hatred in the world if people would just mind their own business. It's people like you that promote hatred in this world.

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, air travel and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all like many of the principles on which this great country was founded; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of marriages like Britney Spears' 55 hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) The only valid marriages are those which produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without both a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. We could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy or longer life spans.

If Eve was created from Adam's rib, that meant they were inseparable, meant to be together. I never did hear of a "Steve" being created for Adam. Nor did I hear about an "Eva" for Eve. It takes both to create a child and replenish the earth. To each his own, but I am still sickened every time I see two women or two men holding hands and acting stupid.

What does it hurt? It hurts in the fact that taxpayers will be providing benefits to a bunch of people when there is no reason for the gov't to be encouraging those relationships.

And, especially if siblings can marry, then it will be easy for people to game the system to get all sorts of benefits like widows Social Security, etc.

Just wondering when it became so wrong to have different points of view. I enjoy watching people who say they are tolerant are quick to slander someone who doesn't share their views. (I'm tolerant of everyone unless you disagree with me. F-U.) Just an observation.

If a gay person wants to marry a gay person. Whatever. I don't agree with it but hey knock yourself out. However, when it comes to gay couples adopting children. Sorry bout' their luck. No!! Not because I think being gay is contagious disease, or the kids will be gay. Its very simple. Your gay. This is a lifestyle you lead so accept it for all things, good and bad.

your right the kids should stay in the system and be tossed around house to house family to family! If it wasn't for all these damn strait people having kids we wouldn't have to deal with this topic!!!
