Since marriage is more about a contract between 2 people who want to protect each others financial interests, why make things harder for anyone to do that? Marriage isn't about religion, which is what is being implied by those who are against gay marriage. Since when do the churches own marriage? Any justice of the peace can wed 2 people, and that isn't a religious ceremony... thats just so the law recognizes each parties right to certain monies, health benefits, etc...
