Marriage is not a purely religious institution. If churches do not wish to perform marriages for homosexual couples, they can choose not to. But just as atheists (and people of the wide variety of religious backgrounds in America) can be married despite the fact that some churches refuse to perform marriages between these individuals, homosexuals should be allowed to marry each other. There is no secular argument against it, and public support for equal rights for all US citizens by a president is long overdue. I do not agree with all of Obama's decisions as president, but I can definitely stand behind this one.

that is the stupidest argument of all. Gay people don't want to marry animals any more than you do ( I think?). That is always the argument that is used when you know your beat and can't come up with a plausible arguement

Because a dog can sign a marriage certificate.... There's a difference between the love of two concenting adults and an animal or a minor.
