Everyone on earth is descended from the same woman who is estimated to have lived around 200,000 years ago, most likely in East Africa. Likewise, all living humans on earth are descended patrilineally (tracing back only along the paternal lines of their family tree) from the same guy that lived as early as around 142,000 years ago, also in Africa.
