A legal marriage is one in which you pay a fee to the government in exchange for a license, that then entitles you to tax breaks and social benefits. All tax payers should have access to this legal proceeding. If you want to give marriage back to the church and take the legal out of it, then fine. Do it. But until that day comes, use common sense and don't talk about freedom until you learn what it means.

I'm against gay marriage too. I'm also against divorce, out of wedlock births, shacking up before marriage and all the other sins that we are told is wrong to do. These things "rarely" get spoken of in a church house because of the toes that would get stepped on. Lets get outraged over "all" sin and not just pick and choose.

I cant stand people that talk badly about those who are divorced. I have been divorced. My ex husband left me in a parking lot, beat me, pushed me into the floor out of bed, and mentally abused me too....but divorce is so horrible.(By the way he wasnt like that during the 9anxiety years we dated but the day we got married it was like i was his slave Screw people that say its wrong. You try living like that.
About gay marriage...whatever. gay people are everywhere. Get over it.

What about all of people who live in glass houses who have caused this area to have the highest rate in divorces, out of wedlock babies, extra marital affairs and hypocrites who are in church everytime the door is open!

Why did Mormons first institute polygamy?
Church founder, Joseph Smith, said he received a revelation from God, which is still canonized Mormon scripture as Doctrine and Covenants Section 132. In the revelation, the Lord commands him to take virgins "an hundredfold in this world" for the purpose to "multiply and replenish the Earth" so "they may bear the souls of men." This was the only revealed reason Joseph Smith ever gave for the Mormon practice of polygamy.(D&C 132: 55, 62-63)
Mitt Romney has a cult like religion founded by a cult like Prophet named Joseph Smith. If a Democrat had a religion like Mitt Romney's, he would be labeled "The Anti-Christ"

@Nonorehab, what do you think church is for? Everyone is a sinner. We go to church to repent and to learn the word of Jesus and our God. No one is perfect.

Well it's easier to point fingers at you gays than to admit we're a bunch of heathens ourselves. Now if you'll excuse me, time to smoke a joint and watch porn with my new girlfriend...hope she doesn't get pregnant like the last one did. Hope my wife doesn't find out either...I can't afford *another* divorce. Now you gay people stop that sinning and be perfect like us.

When you get married you make a vow to God. If God says a gay marriage is wrong how could you vow to him something that he himself doesn't even recognize. Our biggest and best guide for marriage or any part of our lives is the Bible. I guess since its not used until church services people forget.

What Bible do you speak of? The future President of the United States has a Mormon religion. They have "The Bible" and a "Book of Mormon." The Book of Mormon was written by a man named Joseph Smith. In this "Book of Mormon" are some things most people would find cult-like. For instance....
According to Smith, the Garden of Eden was located in Jackson County, Missouri and following his expulsion from the Garden, Adam traveled northward to a place near modern-day Gallatin, Missouri. Mormon Apostle Orson Pratt stated that the name Adam-ondi-Ahman “is in the original language spoken by Adam, as revealed to the Prophet Joseph”(Journal of Discourses 18:343).

Our biggest and best guide for marriage or any part of our lives is the Bible. I guess since its not used until church services people forget. When people choose to get married, they are given the option of a religious marriage, or not. Marriage is a principle of law; a church, and religion as a whole, is not required for a legal marriage. God is useless in this debate, as the poster above me said. "God" and religion as a whole should have no say in any legal matter, because religion does not factor in to our government. That is why we have separation of church and state. Basing laws on one religion in a country that practices the freedom to follow whatever belief you want is ridiculous. It doesn't make sense.
