Did you say, "Yeah, I accept you, but keep out of marriage it's for straight people?" 0.o No you're wrong those words weren't perverted because of sexual preference they were perverted because of homophobes do you really think the gay community picked the word 'queer' for itself a word that implies they are different? also your forgot faggg >.> Well with the divorce rate so high, and marriages being what people do when they're drunk at vegas the people who are gonna best define what husband and wife are supposed to be will probably be the ones who have spent the last few decades struggling for the right to just get married, but that's just my opinion. Your turtle cannot and will never be able to knowingly consent. This argument makes no sense, but at least you didn't use pedophilia, I hate when people lump homosexuality/pedophilia/and bestiality together. They are not the same, they are not even close to the same >.> it's disturbing. Quit it, that's very bigoted. I can't believe you can claim to have cared about your relative who was gay when you're sitting here arguing that 'bestiality' is somehow the same as homosexuality. Sorry Apathy, I sometimes have my own opinion and express it inappropriately late at night after a couple of beers. I don’t have a pet turtle and was not referring to bestiality but attempting a point of the unnatural by comparison. I take no satisfaction in offending others and so will bow out of this discussion. Best wishes.

some people are so backward in their thinking, this is 2012. if they don't understand someone their fear sets in. i guess they feel if we accept this, then this will cause their children to try it and there will be more gays, but this is stupid. if some would educate themselves and read more, but these people are lazy. it is much easier to call names and resort to violence. this is a hatefull reaction. we have hate filled chuches with preachers promoting hate. we must remember it was the churches that held back women, the christains had slaves and now it is the gays. i believe in God but my interpretation is not of hate. these references to animals show just how slow you are.

I know this opens up the door for objections by bringing God into the discussion, but “bliss” is derived from “blessed of God”…you opened that door. When seeking to know truth or the will of God… one proof is… can God bless it? God gave us all free will. If He wanted us to be puppets, we'd have been puppets. Since we're not, and He is perfect, it's obvious that we're not supposed to be.

I find it difficult to participate in debate if not permitted my opinion tiptoeing around my every word being politically correct. I try but differing opinions offend. You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all the time. So let me try another way... If I go into a hardware store and ask for a male pipe fitting to go with a female connector I expect two fittings of opposite connections designed to be joined together. As intended they fit together perfectly. The original design of nature is all about the plumbing. Male was created to couple with a female as is evident by their plumbing.

The only reason I’m voting not sure is because I do think homosexuals should be allowed to wed I think it’s a right for any citizen to marry who they wish as long as it’s between consenting adults. As far as I can remember the president implied when running for office he was also pro-gay marriage and when voted in did nothing to enforce gay marriage. Now that he is not as popular as he once was he seems to be dipping back into the well to gain support to be voted back in.

To get back to the topic of this discussion... which is gay marriage, I will redirect to clarify. I do not oppose you or gays. I did not intend to go there. Gays already have their sexual preferences and freedom to be what they want with whom they want. Marriage is the topic of debate. One can purchase a fishing license, but it cannot be used to go hunting, sell real-estate, or practice law. I want to adopt my pet turtle and have all the same rights of others and claim her on my taxes. Is this all gays want out of marriage... tax breaks and insurance benefits? If you are already happy living together there can be nothing better or more needed. What is it exactly gays want out of marriage you do not already have?

I would say they want not only the legal rights we have, but to also make a legal binding agreement within the relationship. There is no such thing as palamony anymore and if one of them dies they are not allowed to receive benefits from Social Security and a will can be contested in a court of law for years. They also would like the same right as you and I do as presenting their partners as their husband or wife. I don't believe they are intrested in the monatary gain its the value of legally sharing their lives with one another as husband and husband or wife and wife.

I have been married almost 30 years. I have a few gay friends who have been together about the same amount of time, we were all friends in college and have grown up together. They attended my children's birthday parties, my parents 60th anniversary, my brother's funeral .... we have been there for each other - supporting, celebrating, mourning. It is depressing to me that these loving people cannot by law insure their significant other, leave a pension to the other if they should die, adopt or foster children even though they are more than financially able to provide for them - and wish so much to have children. I think that it is very pious to not offer them the same benefits that the male/female partners receive. Watch the movie Bicentennial Man - learn to appreciate and not discriminate.

I regret I offended Apathy earlier with my comments, I had forgotten she/he is gay. What threw me off was that on another topic post we all thought she was female, but turned out she is a he. This is where I am confused. Gays are attracted to males because they feel like females trapped in male bodies. So aren’t they then two females trapped in male bodies, and yet attracted to each other (women) which would actually make them lesbians. Do Lesbians feel like men trapped in female bodies? If so wouldn’t that also make them two men attracted to men? It would make more sense if a lesbian who felt like a man trapped in a women’s body were to be attracted to a gay man who felt like a woman trapped in a mans body.

Your thinking of transgendered people and I honestly have very mixed feelings on that subject. Homosexuals are attracted to the same sex not because they have identity crisis. The just love and are attracted to those of the same sex. My dad loved woman he just could never be "in love" with a woman (he explained this to my once) he was never sure what made him feel this, but he told me he knew he was different at the age of 6! He did not want to be gay he had a half brother who was 15 years his senior and watched the hell he went through being gay. So he got married, but told my mother he never wanted children. She knew something was wrong with him and got pregnant. 3 months later with me. Her thought was it would "fix him" he hated her for doing it. They stayed married until I was 4 then divorced, but lived together for another 2 years then my grandfather passed away. It was not until my father found him laying dead on the front steps of our house on Ewing St that he left. After he left she blamed me and became extremely abusive and remains somewhat still the same to this day. I am thankful for being alive, but I can't help wondering if I had not been born if his life would have taken a different path. He always said he loved me the second he saw me and he raised me damn well! He always told me the only good thing to come from him and my mother being married was me and he never regretted marrying her, but he hated the fact he could not love her like she needed and deserved. He lied to himself and others for so long he had a really hard time when he first came out. He cried a lot and was sad for a really long time. He lost most of his male friends and even those who grew up with him never took 5 minutes out of there day when he was dying to come say their goodbyes. I always tell people I have seen more hate and bigots before I was 17 then I ever want to see again. Understanding this is not a sickness or a mental illness is the first step in understanding.
