Many people are assuming that a ban on gay marriage (already illegal) will affect homosexuals only. Depending upon the 'new definition' of marriage or civil union, a new law could take away partnership rights from any couple or partner who wasn't married like close friends living together sharing expenses. If you have lived with your common law spouse or partner for years and something happens to them, you might not have a say in what happens to the children you may be raising together, your partners last wishes, property that is in their name, etc. You might not even have the "right" to visit them in the hospital.

It also could take away civil union benefits in state jobs. So if you work for the state and your fiance has been on your insurance plan, the law could consider their policy void until you are married.

A new law could affect All unmarried couples not just homosexuals. only a thought.

I wonder how many voted for the ban on same sex marriage in our own state were in a committed relationship and voted for the bill not realizing that they would lose all rights concerning health or property with their partner.

NO, EL PRESIDENTE DEBE LEER LAS ESCRITURAS. AT.

The sanctity of marriage is between a man and a woman. Marriage is the stage where two can settle down and have offspring to continue the human race. Gay marriage cannot do this and therefore doesn't contribute to society.

So if a male and female couple are married for many years yet fail to have children you believe it is the duty of the government to force them to get divorced?

Good point bob. personally, I don't care what people do in their bedrooms as long as it is
adults in agreement and it isn't advertised. Just isn't my business. In my opinion, at the end of the day, it's all about the money anyway.

Brother wants to marry Sister ?
Dont you people see where this is headed Obama has opened a can of worms and if the lid is not put back on the jar we are in trouble''
Inbred's lead to mental retardation all kind of mental and physical problem's.
So what will the court rule when these other people start a discrimination law suite concerning one of the things i mentioned.
You cannot justify sin God will hold you accontable.
If two Men are in an argument one man says to you give me a gun i'm going to kill this Man you give him a gun and he kill's the Man are you less guilty then he is or are you just as guilty.
When you stand before God and you have voted for politicans who believe it's ok to kill Babies and two Men/Women can marry then you will be as guilty of that sin as they are.
What is your soul worth to you is it more important then being a Republican or a Democrat or more important then skin color ,People you had better wake up and vote your concience because Hell is an awfull place.

A direct quoit from the Bible,

Leviticus 18:22

Man)Thou shalt not lie with mankind as (Woman) with womankind: it is abomination.

Roman 1: 26

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Roman 1: 27
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of a woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

If you use quotes from the Bible to justify being against gay marriage, then how do you use the Ten Commandments in your view of others.
How far should a person go to get another to accept their way of thought? Is what the other person doing to you any physical or mental harm of is them being different being distasteful. What about other things that are now common in our society, tattoos, long or unusual colored hair, beards, skimpy clothes and a host of other things done that are different than the average person. We see many and what the most look like are"normal"and then we put the others in whatever category that our mind thinks is correct.

I suggest you read the entire book of Leviticus in the Bible, which is full of laws given by God to Moses. Are most of these relevant today? Have you ever eaten pork, rabbit, clams, crabs, shrimp or lobster? All against Gods law per the book of Leviticus.

Since you think the government should enforce religious rules - even those without victims -do you want the government to enforce this one? "If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman and the woman."

Or this one? "And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father. She should be burned with fire."

How about this one? "If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son... then shall his father and his mother... bring him unto the elders of his city... And all men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die."

Of course we have laws that stem from religious morality that protect the innocent, and these make sense. It's illegal to have sex with children for instance. It's illegal to rape or murder someone. And there are laws againse incest because the offspring would be innocent victims. We even protect animals from cruelty. But why is it important to you to keep gay adults from marrying and living happily ever after? Will this harm you or anyone else?

If the Bible say's it's a sin then it's a sin.The bible say's that Christ cleaned the food made it fit to eat there is Bible scripture to back that up.It does not say he allows homosexuality.
You cannot pick out what you want to fit your sin and i did not suggest the Government should inforce religious rules.
My opinion the Government need to stay out of religious rules,Like trying to force abortions on people who dont believe in abortions and trying to force gay marriage on Christian people,The only reason Obama is saying he is for gay marriage is because he had an affair with several gay men before he ran for office,
Look what you people have put in to run this Country not only is he a foregiion citizen he is also a homosexual you all should be proud of your accomplishments.

The govrnment is not forcing you to gay marry anyone. Look, it's simple. If you dont believe in interracial marriage, don't marry someone of a different race. If you don't believe in drinking alcohol, don't drink alcohol. If you don't believe is swearing, don't use profanity. If you don't believe in homosexual marriage, don't marry someone of the same sex. Simple.

You seem to feel it is appropriate for the government to control the private lives of consenting adults. In my view, government interference our private lives is against the founding principles of America. I like my view better. Sounds to me like you'd be more comfortable in a country like Iran.

And that's just how it should be. Each person must choose theit personal guidelines for their lives. It's when we tell everyone else they must follow our guidelines, and get the government to enforce it, that we lose freedom.

The worst governments in the world are those that enforce Apostasy and Blasphemy Laws. Think Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Indonesia, etc. We are Americans and we believe in freedom. We have the freedom to choose to lead what we believe are virtuous lives. We are also free to speak against those who we believe are not living virtuous lives. We even have the freedom to lead what you some consider a sinful life as long as we don't violate the rights of others.

Freedom of personal choice in matters of marriage and family life is one of the liberties protected by the Constitution. Civil rights are not subject to popular vote based on the sentiments, beliefs and passions of the majority. This is the fundamental bedrock of what our nation stands for. If this were not true, blacks would still not be allowed to vote or marry someone they love because of their skin color.

I say if you don't like homosexual marriage, don't marry someone of the same sex. Ban them from your church if you like. Preach against it if you want. This is a free country. But keep the government out of it.
