Guess this attitude is typical of the do nothing Republican controlled House but I gotta be blunt with you, you and those who think like you are out to destroy this republic by voiding any thought of compromise. You know what such people are called? Dictators!

If your idea of doing something is to stand for two men having perverted sex and giving entitlements to those that are too lazy to work, then thank God for Republicans.

Pure democracy goes something like this. On an island live thirty people. Twenty of these people are men, and ten are women. At their most recent town meeting one of the leaders, a man, proposes that rape be legalized. A vote is taken and all the women vote against the new law, and all the men vote for it.

There is a community of three wolves and two sheep. The wolves propose a vote on what is to be eaten that day for breakfast. The vote is taken over the protest of the sheep who do not agree to the vote. The sheep are immediately killed and eaten.

A country is divided over whether homosexuality should be prohibited, as it is forbidden in the holy book of the majority. The majority then propose a referendum on whether homosexuality should be forbidden by law, and a vote is taken. The majority win the vote. Following the vote and loud but powerless protests by the minority, vast pogroms erupt among the people and gays and lesbians are lynched by the thousands, just like they do it in Saudi Arabia and Iran.

As soon as all the known gays and lesbians are exterminated, the majority next riot all over the country, burning books, torching certain targeted buildings, and holding drumhead courts to find the following classes of people guilty just before their extermination by hanging or other quick methods such as gassing them with potassium cyanide: liberals, atheists, Gypsies, Mexicans, African-Americans, Wiccans, Muslims, Samoans, and Jews. As the pogroms progressed, the Jehovah's Witnesses and the 7th Day Adventists formed an alliance charging that the Mormons were cultists and heretics. War broke out. The Mormons acquired a hydrogen bomb and detonated it over New York City. A few short months later the whole continent was a smoldering cinder of radioactivity and rotting corpses.

Pure democracy prevailed just as it was predicted in Federalist #10 by James Madison.

I am sorry but this man has not had one idea that I can agree with. He caters exclusively to the extreme left. He is the problem not the solution. You can call congress do nothing if you wish. I say he is the do nothing president. He is the one that wont bend and is more akin dictator then any of congress. Congress is doing what their constituents are making their wants known. Also there is an election coming up. If you do not like congress. Change it!!

Are you certain it's not you who is the extremist? Ask any leftie and he'll tell you Obama is too far right. He's certainly NOT extreme left except in eyes like yours and I shudder to think what people like you would do to this country if you got your teeth into it.

Tell you for a fact, the guy has been far too damn chummy with Wall Street which makes a lie out of your assertion.

Your opinion but I gotta tell ya I've no clue why gays would like to join a club that has a 50% failure rate. This is really about discrimination and you ought to understand if we allow discrimination at all you too may fall victim to it at some point, when you get old for example.

I would ask what is your authority? And if you say God...what to say but your lost in a world of superstition. I say live and let live.

Obama is a calculating liar in it just for the power of being in office, and of course, his hope to tear our dear country down.

I will swig corn likker and dance a jig the night of the election when Obama is whipped in a landslide.

Let me try and make a point:

A LEGAL DRIVER is defined...be of age, pass a test, have insurance, and be sober. I don't hear ILLEGAL DRIVERS shouting discrimination. A LEGAL UNION (marriage) has been defined. Deal with it. It won't stop homos from being homo just like the definition of legal driver won't keep people from driving drunk.

Apples and oranges. Say you're a scrub nurse, are ya, an orderly?
Nobody with a modicum of good sense would try to cobble up an analogy between equalities, and the fundamental inalienable rights of marriage between consenting adults of the same sex, on the one hand; and the privilege related to public safety, not a right, of driving a motor vehicle on the public highways on the other hand.
You whiffed the point. I was making the point that we are arguing over legal definitions. Why don't folks shout "discrimination" over no tobacco sales to kids under 16?

And I do not agree that marriage between two consenting adults of the same sex is a "fundamental inalienable right". Where did this come from???? Marriage has been defined. Quit whining about the definition. It, obviously is not going to change your behavior.

You gotta be a shallowpated ditz. I'd hate for mine or me to be in a hospital and nursed by a wackaloon like you. Do you even know how to change a diaper or clean out a bedpan? Are you in nursing school? Flunk out and a be the hair-sweeper at the beauty shoppe. Yeah, yeah. We know. You're already flunking.
Wacks like you are not going to keep gays in the closet forever. The tide is turning and the people are trending towards acceptance. That's why polls show that more than 51% of Americans are now in favor of gay marriage, and the idiotic state of North Carolina has bucked the trend because of so many ox-brained fools in our legislature and neighborhoods-- momos like you.
So I think it's great political comedians like Jon Stewart are holding stooping lowbrows like you up to ridicule, and the whole world is laughing at North Carolina. You are truly the laughingstocks of humanity.
Not good to generalize. May I point out to you that 39% of those who voted in the primary voted against and that, dear fellow is out of less than half the registered voters who voted so don't be painting the entire state with such a broad brush. Remember also that there are far more states which have such laws already on the books including NC, than not. In short, don't judge the whole damn state by the actions of a few.

What you're saying is also a condemnation and ridicule of the lazy buttwipes who didn't vote. I took time out from a grueling schedule to vote and had to deal with the scorching sun and heavy traffic, and traffic in my town is always raging with aggressive dangerous drivers.
But I voted, and and I voted against that damn fool amendment. I would have stood in a line a mile long to vote against that abortion. Just like I would have stood in a line a mile long to vote against the primping DINO, Mayor Bellumny. So I got a carrot and a stick: a carrot to watch her go down in defeat and a stick to watch that dumass amendment passed. That's why the republitards stuck the damn thing on the primary ballot -- they knew it would pass because of the shiftiness and laziness of the one-eyed public not voting.
And whoever heard of a constitution that could be amended by simple majority vote? HUH? Do you know the effort, the supermajorities, it takes to amend the United States Constitution? So, yes, North Carolina deserves every bit of ridicule and humiliation it gets. And more. I agree with the Governor: We DO look like Mississippi. We DO look like a banana republic. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
B U L L C R A P! I say it again BULL CRAP. Ridicule till the cows come home, it's NOT going to change the simple fact that a certain vocal minority cannot wrap their heads around the idea of gay marriage. Things take time to change and the way forward is not to ridicule but to educate and even then you are not going to shake most of these people out of their beliefs. Your ridicule is only going to harden their resolve. Nothing pisses people off more than to be ridiculed. Pisses me off and I voted against the damn thing.

Think about it, it took until 1967 to erase from the books laws against interracial marriage and now look at this state. You can't go very far afield without seeing interracial couples and this is the South. I've live out west & up north and right here in Western North Carolina I have seen more interracial couples than anywhere. In fact I have never lived anywhere that is as integrated as where AI live right here now.

Hey, dude, I've been there too, and I saw it happen, but it wasn't the speeches of MLK that got people to thinking and changing their opinion ---- it was the marching, the resistance, the picketing, THE LAWBREAKING, people watching TV while barbarians like Theophilus "Bull" Connor turn the water hoses on the crowds and release the police dogs on peaceful marchers, the refusal to ride at the back of the bus and getting arrested like Rosa Parks, and civil rights folks like Viola Liuzzo, Michael Schwerner, Andrew Goodman, and James Chaney getting murdered by the KKK, so you just be safe in the comforts of your couch and coffee table and your smugness and anonymity while a large segment of our population, just because of the way they are born, are being treated like dirt by the shameful state of North Carolina!
Been there did that back in the sixties but, though there are parallels there are many who will argue this is not a civil rights issue. No against discrimination but marriage in the minds of most of those voting for this amendment is a matter of religious belief and on that subject you are not going to move people by cursing at them. Truth is you are only going to harden the opposition when you go against their god.

America also evolving on gay marriage
Slow progress on issue comes person by person, day by day

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-m...

This is going to take time and I must insist no matter how loud or vocal you are about it is not going to help, not on this issue. Truth is even marching in many cases, may do more harm than good for the simple reason that marches and demonstrations all too often bring out the extremes. I suggest to you that perhaps the majority of gays live pretty normal lives and on the surface one can not even detect with certainty who and who is not gay. But look at some of the marches that have occurred, freak shows is the only way to describe it. You didn't see this with the black civil rights movement though I gotta say even there, one could observe a fringe element taking advantage of the situation. MLK didn't approve of destructive behavior but nonetheless it happened in places, at least up North.

But it *IS* a civil rights issue. Gays and Lesbians are being denied their civil rights, and that is why the federal appellate court for the 9th District overturned Proposition 8, and why the Supreme Court will ultimately overturn it and all its bastard cousins in the other states.
Equal rights, the right to marry, the right to the privileges and immunities of married couples, the rights of dower and curtesy, the rights of spousal inheritance, the rights of confidential communications between spouses, the right not to be subpoenaed to testify by one spouse against the other, the rights of community property, the rights of legal and medical next of kin, the rights to tax-free interspousal transfer of property -- these and many more --HUNDREDS MORE!-- are civil rights which are being denied gays and lesbians who wish to marry because the state is defining marriage in violation of separation of religion and state, in violation of the wall of separation, in violation of the Establishment Clause.
Jesusfuggingchrist, President John Adams proclaimed in official documents that this country is not in any sense a Christian nation -- 200 years ago. And goddamned if it ain't still nonetheless a fugging xian nation!
And Jeezuss! Are you ever as thick as an ox's arse! I would have never known that you were stupid. And you're stealing somebody else's moniker too, aren't you? Surely some of those other dumb posts under that moniker are not yours, are they?
Remember when John Adams was around the only people that could vote were white male property owners. Understand I am not arguing against it being a civil rights issue but rest assured this is the tact Mitt Romney's campaign is going to take. Saw one of his people addressing the issue exactly this way.

I also agree that ultimately these laws will be dumped. But you see the difficulty I speak of is your nasty freakin attitude. Such bile is not designed to win friends and influence people for damn certain. As for the moniker it belongs to nobody. It simply declares an attitude regarding the post I'm responding to.

By the way, I have several gay and lesbian friends and acquaintances and do support them on all such issues. In fact one lesbian couple is married (MA or RI)
Once again, I agree with you in every respect except your snotty attitude which again, is not going to help the cause. In fact it does quite the opposite. What's that old saying about flies and honey V vinegar You sure as hell did not hear MLK talking the way you are.

Point is, none of the folks expressing their distaste here are NEVER EVER going to change their opinions through the use of nasty rhetoric or court action for that matter. Hell, there are freak conservatives I've heard state woman should never have been given the right to vote.

So, I would venture to say your anger is clouding your vision and taking away your ability to argue in a measured manner even with a "friend". You need to fix it dude, honestly!

But you DID argue it was not a civil rights issue, and now you're flipflopping. And this country was not founded on xian principles; it was founded by agnostics and deists who despised organized religion, the church, and xianity. And for you to argue about rich white men is absurd and irrelevant. Many people out on the frontiers just shacked up. Marriage became a consecrated thing mostly because of the one-eyed clergy which would just love to take control of this country.
