More people die every year from coal mining and oil drilling than the entire history of nuclear energy.

No, they don't. The nuclear industry-an industry brought about by the search for mass-death has done us few favors. As for your statistics I would refer you to the Ukraniann Uzbek governments own figures, and the people of Germany and Scandinavia. Chernobyl isn't even over, just a time-bomb. s...then realize the facts are far worse. The deaths are for sure many, many thousand and they will continue. Our Ohio Valley and Tennessee valley are full of aging plants of the type in Japan but not built to withstand an earthquake as the Japanese plants were. The quake was about 8 times stronger than design limits.
Also we have sprayed uranium-235 all over the globe as ammo for everything from .50 cal on up. The dust goes into the soldiers lungs, staying for life. It also poisons the native population by going into the water and by people looking for scrap metal to sell.
There are areas in Kentucky and especially Tennessee that you hardly need a scope for hunting. A buck with 2 heads and 24 points can't run too fast! But, why complain, as things are going "wildlife" will mean crows and cockroaches. I leave out the hundreds of thousands of deaths from Nagasaki and Hiroshima simply because any idiot knows about those. I hope.

Fukushima, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Chernobyl and all of the "hot sites" we know nothing about as well as out-of-control CANCER.
