I dont support nuclear power around easten KY because we have coal for power, but most places in the world cant get coal so what else are the suppose to use.
What is happening in Japan is terrible but seeing as how earthquakes only happen every 200 years, I doubt the plant was built to withstand one AND a tsunami on top of it.
Bless all those innocent people who now have nothing and have to deal with being exposed to radiation.
But we are a huge society and can not pick and choose how our power is supplied to us.

We have an abundance of natural sources of energy in this country. We just need to wake up and start using those resources. It makes alot more sense to use these natural sources of energy rather than to create a source of energy that has the real potential to destroy our environment for thousands of years.

Forget nuclear power. The future is in using solar energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen which is then converted to electricity in a fuel cell.

I agree with you all that solar and water could be used for power but the rules and regulations of the EPA and whoever else are not for this.
My grandfather was telling me the other day about when they powered Johnson County by the river and then the trains took its place hauling in coal. He was telling me how much cleaner water would be to use, obviously, but there are so many problems.
The biggest would be the 'fat cats' that line their pockets with the money that people pay to even keep power. Rich and powerful men who have the best lawyers to fight any kind of talks about better energy efficient means.
I'm all for solar. A friend of my grandfathers uses soalr power at his house and it saves me hundreds of bucks every month on his electric bill.

I have been researching this all day, and it has blown my mind too. This is the REAL deal, and these guys are set to make it happen. Nocera's company has recently merged with a company from India called the Tata group and they are going to make this a reality.
New Bill Passed

Salyersville, KY

For all those people out there in Kentucky that do not know it yet...there was a recent bill passed in KY Senate which was Senate Bill 26 that was highly backed by Senator Bill Leeper (I) from Paducah which will allow Nuclear Power Plants be built in Kentucky.

This bill passed the Senate 27-10 and is fully backed by Gov. Beshear. This bill goes before the KY House of Reps at their next session and if it passes the House then the moratorium on nuclear power plants being built in KY will be lifted. If this bill passes, there will be a Nuclear Power Plant built - it is proposed to be built near Paducah. Already in Paducah there is a Nuclear Diffusion Plant which processes Uranium and Plutonium to be used in Nuclear Power Plants through out the USA!

If you don't want Nuclear Power Plants in Kentucky, I would urge everyone to start writing letters and ringing the phones of your State Rep demanding they veto the bill!

Isn't there a major fault line aka New Madrid near Paducah. Well, that's a great place to put a nuclear power plant. Maybe we can can create a disaster, I suppose we can show the world just how stupid we are.

The people of Kentucky need to stand up and be heard in Frankfort and demand that Senate Bill 26 be voted down in the House of Reps!

If we sit back and do nothing about this then we are STUPID!

Nuclear facility on top of a major fault line and HAARP station...bad idea. Who was the genius that thought of this? Perhaps this was meant for population control in which case it was a brilliant idea if that was your intent.

look what has happened in Japan. We have the technology for alternative means which are safer, inexpensive, more efficient. We can use solar energy to create hydrogen fuel and oxygen from water and recombine them in a fuel cell to yield electricity and water as an emission. This is the best and only solution if we are going to survive into the future.
