So what are you going to do when the Sun is not shining or you have a cloudy day? Are you just going to go without electricity?
You folks who think that we can live by all-renewable choices are in dreamland.
We need baseload provided by nuclear, then we can work to make solar and wind economical.
Ok agree! However we will hire YOU and your buddys' so that you can help clean the Rio Grande from all the nuclear waste!

My strong support for nuclear does NOT make me against renewable energy. I think wind and solar might be able to make an important contribution

There are many who are against coal, oil, natural gas and nuclear ... and think that there is a 100% renewable energy solution.

Reality is that such an effort would prove grossly insufficient, as well as being plain risky.

Are you willing to risk everything on the unproven sources such as wind, solar, tides ... whatever your choice?

I think that risking the futures of millions of American is out of the question.

We should not put all of our eggs in one basket and hope for the best. We cannot risk failure and failure is simply not an option.

Nuclear power is the cheapest and cleanest form of electrical power.

Nuclear power is the cheapest and cleanest form of electrical power. It will reduce the amount of carbon placed in the atmosphere which may or may not reduce "global warming".

Pail...or pale? Your thoughts belong in a pail. Nuclear is the lesser of all the evils we require.

Cheapest and cleanest? If you ignore the money future generations will have to devote to the safe storage of the waste and the continued risk of leaks in increasingly populated areas near current plants where waste is being 'temporarily stored'.

When you buy a home next to a plant, then come and tell us just how pro nuclear you are. Until then you are just an uninformed parrot.

I used to live in Carlsbad and worked at the Waste Isolation Pilot Project plant. How about you, Parrot?

WIPP is a joke and so is Carlsbad. The area is so desperate to have anything that it is willing to put a few dollars ahead of long term stability and safety. Must have been a great job for you to have left that paradise. Can't say much for your overall judgement based on these facts you share and the fact that you saw fit to escape to the city of Lost Causes for respite. To each his own. So many don't know just how much they don't know. Ignorance is bliss; they say.

Do we keep hearing this assessment about our nuclear experts over and over again? The reason human error has occurred is due to a basic problem: complacency and overconfidence on the part of workers. Or it is insider treason by an imported scientist.

Today's headline:
Small radiation amount 'could have' escaped plant

http://news.yahoo.com/small-radiation-amount-...
LOS ANGELES (AP)— A tiny amount of radiation could have escaped from a Southern California nuclear power plant after a water leak prompted operators to shut down a reactor as a precaution, but plant workers and the public were not endangered, officials said Wednesday.

The leak was detected Tuesday afternoon in Unit 3 at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, about 45 miles north of San Diego. The seaside plant was taken off line while investigators tried to determine what happened.

While the leak wasn't large enough to require the plant to declare an emergency, any possible leak of radiation into the atmosphere is rare. Also concerning was that "many" tubes that carry pressurized radioactive water were damaged, according to a spokesman for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The tubes are part of equipment that is virtually new, having been installed in 2010.
"The damage that they have found to many other tubes is unusual, and they are attempting to identify the reason," NRC spokesman Victor Dricks said.

What Rio Grande? There is no river here, it's just a large irrigation canal that is turned on and off like a faucet. Take about screwing the local environment. Can you imagine how nice it would be if it could run all year?

Nuke em till they glow.

What we really require is a release from the grip of EPE. All options glow compared to the PRC and EPE bending us over with no KY or Vaseline.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Virgo

You're feeling restless and need to introduce as much variety into your day as possible. However, you'll want this to be on your own terms, and you certainly won't like it if plans are changed without your consent or you feel you've lost control of the situation. Try to take everything in your stride, otherwise you'll end up feeling exhausted and frazzled.
