Not a good way forward - more creative safe alternatives need to be considered

I support a power plant here. Hopefully it will melt down and improve Kingsville by a lot.

I don't want what happened in Japan to happen here!

I think it would have to be something that the people would vote on, have public debates and a list of positives and negatives before it would be welcomed here.

Bp had on of the worse fossil fuel accidents in the gulf of Mexico and
I bet you will eat some fish from the gulf this Summer would you like to eat some fish from japan that was caught Near one of the reactors end of discussion idiots. |

Learn to fault lines guize.
|

Yes cause the new reactor design levels are so much safer then before. Soon we will have level6 reactors
|

Ok what happened in japan was bad luck. The reactor was designed to survive a quake, which it did. It was engineered to survive a tsunami, which it did. But no one thought about both hitting at the same time. But even so they thought of backups such as the generAtors and batteries. Granted there was screw ups involved but over all it was awesomely engineered. Now other alternatives... There are a few. Wind, solar, hydro, and sea water to name a few. All are good and I can give you good points for them and some bad but this discussion is about nuclear power. Now the types of reactors that can be built now are a level 5 type. Which means that they need little to no human interaction to control and monitor itself. If it detects a problem and it receives no input from humans it will shut it self down and contain the cores. Completely bypassing a meltdown. Now our level of recycleing and containment and with new techniques the amount of radioactive waste is almost nothing. Yes it is still makeing some but compared to 20 to 30 years ago it's miniscule. As for radioactive fish well yes they will have some. But it's not of the slow decaying type. This radioactive matterial will decay in days if not weeks. I can't tell you the type off the top of my head but the mater can be researched online. As for Bp oil well it's either eatten by bacteria or sunk. Can't say for sure as I haven't looked into it in over a month. But anyway japanese fish off the coast is safe to eat as far as I can tell. Ok done.

So what your telling me is it would be ok with you if we put a nuclear reactor in your backyard, because you can put an oilwell in my front and back yard and I will not have any concerns dummmbasses
|
|
ok I don't see your point at all Just thinking. I came to u with bare facts admittedly, yet your response has no merit. You put words in my mouth then you make some weird comment about having rigs on your dwelling. Then you insult me. Not a very rational response. strawman and red herring argument if I have ever heard one. You have wasted both our time sir or madam. Perhaps you are unaware, but the topic here was whether you support or unsupport building more nuclear plants.
|
|
|
A properly functioning nuclear plant is much safer than a properly functioning coal or oil facility.

Then answer the question would you allow a nuclear
Plant in your backyard yes or no. |

Just can't keep my mouth shut sorry there is no Freacking way an oil well or gas well is more dangerous than a nuclear reactor the odds are better on a nuclear reactor
I will give you that idiot but it is just like birth controll nothing is 100 percent Perfect we should all agree to this right, thanks for agreeing so then smarty pants tell me what is worse because if it is not 100 percent Perfect what happens when it does fail do you want it in your back yard yes or no stupid I will bet you anything you want to and I bet the answer is no Donahue your pie hole |
|
do you think I can be swayed by your bullying? Are you so dense that you believe insulting me will make me as blind as you? I am sorry sir or madam but you have completely failed in presenting a coherent counterpoint to any facts I have stated. And facts they are while have shown nothing but your ignorance. You wish to live in ignorance so be it. You will have the ignorance of my answer as well. Spouting nonsense and insults will get you nowhere. If you had been a rational individual I would have responded in kind. Live with your delusion. While I have the good sense to admit I do not know everything I do know this. To argue with a fool make a fool of both of us. Next time please do some research into anything you wish discuss. You have dishonored yourself. Good day to you.

Yes or no answer the question or are you a politician can we put a reactor in your backyard yes or no

It is irrelevant (and quite stupid) to argue if I would want a nuclear plant in my "backyard" For one, I live in an apartment. If you mean "Would you support a nuclear power plant's construction and operation near your hometown." Then yes. Yes I would. Also, to the ignorant idiot who says that nuclear is more dangerous than coal...once again facts trump "feeeeeelllinnnggssss " "Coal even releases more radioactive material than nuclear energy — 100 times more per the same amount of energy produced, according to Dana Christensen of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), as reported in Scientific American in 2007." Here, start curing your ignorance. http://www.livescience.com/13876-nuclear-ener... |

If you live in an apparently probably living on the government stupid it will always
Be in a backyard just because it is stuck in the country doesn't mean people don't live near it what you are trying to say is that on average nuclear is not as dangerous because the reported releases I repeat reported releases aren't as common YOU ARE AN IDIOT so once again do you want a reactor in your backyard yes or no |
First of, punctuation, learn to use it. Secondly, YES YOU IDIOT I WOULD WANT A NUCLEAR REACTOR "in my backyard" I've already stated this but you, obviously, do not have adequate reading comprehension. The benefits of having a nuclear reactor significantly outweigh the negatives. Notice how I back up my arguments with sources and facts? Try doing that next time. (and try using decent grammar) |
