Retoru wrote: If they did build a nuclear plant in this region they'd have to bring in outside labor for every stage. There aren't any contractors in this area that have the knowledge or certifications to build the plant. Once it's built, it needs to be staffed. While "absurd" is wrong about the type of people hired for these plants, s/he is on the right track. You need a fairly advanced degree to work in a nuclear plant, generally in an engineering field. There just aren't any people living in this area with that kind of education, any who were intelligent enough to get that kind of degree also had the good sense to move away. If they built the plant the only jobs locals would be able to get would be mopping the floors and cleaning the toilets, any of the actual good jobs would be given to people who had the qualifications to do them that were willing to relocate to the area. You are an idiot. A power plant, nuclear or not, isn't ran by a huge team of engineers. Are there engineers there? Yes. Lots of them? No. Are you a big dummy who thinks he knows it all? Yes. Do you know how to make good pizzas? Yes. Should you shut up? Yes

Ron wrote: Current nuclear plants are type III which are safer than the Japanese plant that was designed during the late 60's. Further, modern plants have super hard concrete containment structures that would contain any melt down. Example, Three mile Island was a melt down, but it penetrated only 5/8's of an inch into the hardened floor. were you there ? if so why should we take your advice you almost blew the dammed place up and dont have the brains to knock this shit off

absurd wrote: <quoted text> If you really think they will hire local people to work at a nuclear facility you are diluted. People who have those jobs are former military who maintained subs and surface warfare vessels. They also pay 6 figures So maybe it would bring some decent educated people to this God forsaken hillbilly area....
