what i feel about marijuana is why not legalize it, for a few reasons 1. ppl dat drink and drive become stupid and ppl get killed by drunk drivers, weed relaxes u stay home no crime no deaths, ppl should understand that dat. and our goverment would not be so broke like we are now, weed would help us in so many ways i think.

I've smoked pot for 48 years now. spent 7 years in the army, retired as an electrician/electronic tech in the auto industry(robotics) never busted, had cancer twice, got my card twice. the last 3 presidents smoked pot.and so far in this forum i've found opponents to pot ignore the obvious, repeat 70+ years of government bigoted lies. RACISM started it all. reefer madness and the evil weed hyperbole has been past down for generations. if you visit other citys on this topic you will find that most(and i say most)opponents are absolute bigots. when you disagree with them or show them web sites to show that their wrong, thay will start the name calling and insults and thay have fun doing it.so just don't reply to idiots.

If marijuana is legal,we will face lawsuits for people wanting to use it at work. There will be lawsuits from people using it while driving, and using it in public places in front of children.

Here are some historical facts
reason why industrial hemp -- and not just marijuana -- has been illegal in our country since 1937.

The hemp seed is one of the highest sources of protein and the number-one source of essential fatty acids. It is still a major food staple for many people in the eastern world. Hemp seed was the world's most used birdseed right up until its prohibition. Birds will pick the hemp seeds out of a pile of mixed seed and eat them first. Hemp seed oil was the main base for the planet’s paints and varnishes and was the world's most consumed lighting oil for thousands of years. It was also used as lubricating oil, even as recently as World War II on U.S. war ships.

The fiber from the cannabis hemp plant is the strongest natural fiber in the world. From it man has produced everything from the finest linens to the strongest ropes, sails, and tents for thousands of years. Even the first American flags were made out of hemp. The fiber is also a chemical-free source of paper, and was used worldwide since 600 A.D., for everything from books to money and documents, including both drafts of the Declaration of Independence. Benjamin Franklin used hemp in America’s first paper mill. Hemp’s cellulose fibers were also used in the manufacture of dynamite and TNT.

The study of the hemp fiber by the U.S.'s largest powder company, Du Pont, led to the development of the first synthetic fiber, Rayon. Hemp’s cellulose observation was also the basis of our plastics,(Celluloid, Acetate, etc.) and the duplication of these fibers produced Nylon, the world’s strongest synthetic fiber. This company also produced the chemicals that make up synthetic varnishes and paints, and the chemicals used in the wood-paper process.

"The chemist has aided in conserving nature by developing synthetic products to supplement or wholly replace natural products," said Lammont Du Pont, company president.

In 1937, the entire hemp industry was illegalized through the lie that marijuana was the most violent drug known to man. In this same year, Du Pont patented Nylon and the chemical process of making paper from wood

I agree, I will add that if they really want to regulate use, put it in a pill form in pharmacies, instead of making it way for drug dealers to hide behind medical marijuana use. Employers will have less power if their employees are failing drug tests whether their eyes are dialzted or not, what about auto accidents. The argument in comparing alcohol to marijuana to cigerettes is only taking the attention away from marijuana and putting it somewhere else, and comparing marijuana to anything else creates a weak argument.

Thank you, excellent comments. If this was a pill that required a Doctors prescription, there wouldn't be as much abuse. We would in effect, remove the recreational appeal and the quest for young people to explore or sample something that could turn to an obsession.

If a pharmaceutical company sold a THC pill they could insure purity and prescription strength. A THC pill would not stink so much and with a prescription medication you could avoid side effects.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Sagittarius

You're wearing rose-tinted glasses today, especially when you look at some of the special people in your life. Right now you only want to see their good points and you'll deliberately turn a blind eye to any faults that might be on show. If you can escape from the real world for a day with you-know-who you'll have a marvelously romantic and emotional time together. But do your best to come back to earth tomorrow.
