Kayla wrote: Cannabis legalization would boost our economy, allow our farmers to grow hemp for biofuel, clothes, food, etc. and save over $1 million in Washington state alone on arresting, prosecuting and incarcerating people for this victimless crime. Our prison rates would go down, families would be able to stay together, cannabis would be regulated to keep it out of the hands of our children and medical patients would be able to consume their medicine without fear. Legalization is a good idea no matter how you look at it. Legalization would only allow you to buy, sell, and possess MJ. It would not nullify the right of a drug free workplace to not hire you and to be able to terminate you if MJ is found in your system during random testing. What you do on your time is your business but having ANY drugs in your system on their time and on their premises is their's. If you are rich or self employed there is no problem. A drug related job dismissal will follow you to job searches. Is it worth it to take such a chance with your future?

Can't you see toads getting wasted and going to work the next day and getting screened? They will curse, scream, kick, and be hostile all the while knowing they were in a drug free zone when they got canned. Legalizing and decriminalization won't give you the right to use it anywhere anytime. Stupiditity is not knowing when and where.

Never seen someone beat a person to death because they were too stoned. Not saying it makes anyone any wittier or smarter, but probably one of the most peaceful drugs available today. If it helps someone through pain, i'm all for it!

hurts nothing amd no one. make it a dui offense.for that matter most drungs should be legalized or at least the penalty for them should be cut by 9/10ths. this "war on drugs" is really and "industry to keep 1/4 the entires world pop in prison that collects money for a massive industry of government workers, our justice you can get in our system is if you have money. it makes me sick. this country is becoming a facist police state and I'm ashamed to live here.

Tax the bejeezus out of pot and we can slow all these devastating budget cuts. The war on drugs is lost. Money used for incarceration could be spent on treatment.

Those people who committed a drug crime while it was illegal will still be in jail. Some people actually think that if the law changes, the jail doors will be thrown open and all the people with MJ related convictions will walk out. That issue will be many more years of individuals going through the court system.

it's less harmful than alcohol, the hemp plant can potentially replace many industries that profit from destroying our environment, it was made illegal based on lies and propaganda, it is kept illegal by the greed of pharmacuetical companies and the military industrial complex which profits from any sort of war, particularly the war on drugs who's main victim is innocent Americans.

Think about the kids who would be getting stoned with there friends. How man people would be effected and need treatment. This would be a drain on the national health debt. Actually keeping it illegal costs alot more.....

If the government ever taxes MJ like alcohol, expect a 60-70% mark up over growers cost then it will be taxed again at point of sale. Home growers will be treated like moonshiners, hunted down and" neutralized".

You're 100% right but as long as there is a demand, someone will supply regardless of the consequences, just as in the prohibition era. "Families" made fortunes off illegal activities, including the famous Kennedys.
