Keeping marijuana illegal is hypocritical considering our laws around alcohol and prescription drugs. All we are doing by continuing the prohibition is fattening the violent black market.

Save taxpayers money in law enforcement, earn revenue in issuing permits. Safer than alcohol.

in comparison to alcohol its harmless and the war against drugs needlessly criminalises otherwise promising youngsters and sets them on the road of exile from society, despite the relativly mild effect of the drug in comparison to other drugs

considering it's easier to contain and could now be done at will, does that mean people will more freely show up to work baked out of their heads? The tests they now conduct would be obsolete right? It would be like testing to see if you drank alcohol in the last 30 days. Not gonna happen. How does this affect the GNP?

The last thing responsible people need is to babysit leagalized pot addiction.

It's not dangerous and would provide much needed tax revenue

According to an ex-cia turned Professor at my college, marijuana crosses our borders all the time and is used by every social class in America. Leagalizing it would be better to regulate from the American perspective. Of course we will endure problems from the legalized trade, but no more and (predictably) probably less than the gang fighting neighbors from the south are having due to drug gang wars. I think legalizing it would cut down on violence and it then can be taxed thus helping out the economy.

Current restrictions on marijuana research are absurd

The British Gov't thinks it's important enough to re-classify Marijuana into a new schedule for medicinal use.

American College of Physicians supported further medicinal research. Hmm, they're Doctors, so I'm quite sure they have more information than you do.

The harm potential of Marijuana is much lower than the legal harm that can be done.

No more or less than we have to keep an eye on the drinkers we work with.
Having a fellow worker show up hung over is worse than having a guy show up after he smoked some weed...
I have worked with both....
Never seen a pot smoker who HAD to have a smoke during the day..Seen LOTS of drinkers who have a few at lunch.

The drug war is just as big of a failure as the 1930s prohibition, we need the cops to chase and lock up REAL criminals, and so we need DRUG PEACE.

Libra

You value your privacy today, especially if you can share it with a very special person. If you're supposed to be going out with lots of people you might be tempted to make your excuses, simply because you can't face all that hubbub and noise. Don't be surprised if someone confides in you, but make sure you can keep their secrets and treat them with the respect they deserve.
